New Art - Block printing on my new recycled paper

Where has the time flown?

My mother was visiting last week, which always turns things topsy turvy...

Lets see...

I got some beautiful fine art giclee prints done of two of my watercolours. I haven't put them in my shop yet because I wanted to get a nice frame to photograph them in to show them off to better effect.

Also my paper came! My lovely vintage coloured recycled card paper, with my lovely recycled manilla envelopes to match! I was so excited I immediately set down to block printing some of my linocuts. First I printed the gift carrying squid onto the sky blue paper. I want to colour the squid in afterwards so I used my new oil based black ink. It is still drying. Oil based ink takes forever to dry!

Thankfully I printed my squirrel and my bird with water-based inks so they are not only dry but folded and ready! Wanna see? I am so excited about them! I put them up in my inkdoodles etsy shop too. Fingers crossed that people like them!

I printed birdie using red block printing ink onto the citron coloured card to make a series of postcards, and the squirrel using burnt umber block printing ink onto the apricot coloured card to make a series of greeting cards.

You know what else I did? I went to Ikea to find the frame for my giclee prints that I mentioned earlier, and got carried away - like you do in Ikea! - and bought two more frames. Ikea's ribba frames are beautifully simple and cheap, it's hard to resist them. Especially the cute little ones! Look, I found a frame to perfectly fit my cards!

By the, have you seen I am giving away one of my multi-block lino prints? I am kind of disappointed that I haven't had more takers yet... Do you think I am over-estimating the appeal of linoprints? Just because I have fallen in love with them, doesn't mean other people like them too! Anyway, if you want a chance to win it, just leave your name at the bottom of the post on my inkdoodles blog

And by the way, Have you voted in my poll yet? I am hosting the poll on my inkdoodles blog because LJ is broken and I don't trust it.
