Yuki was not a human. She was an organic humanoid interface created by the Integrated Data Entity to observe and study humans. In layman's terms, she was an alien. She was created three years ago and sent to Earth to observe one Haruhi Suzumiya, who seemed to have some paranormal powers.
Naturally, Kyon barely believed a word of this (he passes it off as Yuki reading too many science fiction novels) and left, continuing on with his life as if nothing strange had happened. A couple days later, Haruhi dragged in a "mysterious" transfer student -- another first-year, this time a boy, by the name of Itsuki Koizumi. Itsuki was then drafted into the SOS Brigade, albeit with less resistance than either Kyon or Mikuru.
That weekend, Haruhi made the SOS Brigade assemble to search the town for anything unusual. They were split into groups twice -- the first time, Kyon ended up with Mikuru. While the two were alone, Mikuru made a revelation not unlike Yuki's a few days before.
Mikuru was a time traveler. Three years before the present, a time quake had occurred, and the time travelers from the future found themselves unable to progress any further back from that point. Once again, this seemed connected to Haruhi Suzumiya, and so Mikuru was sent to observe Haruhi.
Then, to complete the trifecta, Itsuki revealed to Kyon later that day, when the two of them were alone, that he was an esper. Three years ago, Itsuki was suddenly given esper-like powers and ended up in a group of espers known only as the Agency. Itsuki was sent to -- you guessed it -- monitor Haruhi, because she was once again connected with this. In fact, many of the top brass in the Agency believed that Haruhi was, in fact, God. She just didn't know it. Again, Kyon found all this hard to swallow, and tried to go back to his (now somewhat) normal life.
Then one day, Kyon found a note in his locker, telling him to meet someone in the classroom once the other students had left. Turns out the writer of that letter was one of his classmates, a girl named Ryoko Asakura. To make a long story short, Ryoko was another puppet of the Integrated Data Entity, had gotten bored of the status quo, and decided to kill Kyon to shake things up. Fortunately, Yuki got involved, saved Kyon, and "deleted" Ryoko.
The following day, Kyon got a letter in his shoe locker from Mikuru, telling him to meet her in the club room at lunch. Much to his surprise, he found an older version of Mikuru waiting for him. This Mikuru came from even farther in the future than the Mikuru Kyon was familiar with, and left him with a clue of something that would happen in the future: Snow White.
Kyon was then approached by Itsuki, who showed Kyon his powers. He and other espers were devoted to fighting the giants that appear in "enclosed spaces," gaps appearing between dimensions whenever Haruhi got agitated. Kyon got to witness this for himself, but even that wouldn't prepare him for what happened next.
One night, after Kyon went to sleep, he found himself on the school grounds with Haruhi. Correction -- he found himself on the school grounds in an enclosed space with Haruhi. Turns out that Haruhi's subconscious decided to remake the universe, only keeping herself and Kyon from the old universe. Kyon got another hint at what he must do, this time from Yuki -- "Sleeping Beauty" -- then confronted Haruhi, told her about his ponytail fetish, and kissed her. The next thing Kyon knew, he was on the floor of his bedroom, having fallen out of bed. Kyon tried to write it all off as a dream, but no good -- it was too real. It didn't help that Haruhi showed up for school the next day wearing her hair in a ponytail and complaining about a lousy dream the night before, either.

A lot of this snarking is directed toward Haruhi's actions. The girl is just so strange and unusual and hyperactive that she keeps coming up with the craziest ideas. Though, really, it's understandable. When a girl is dragging you into everything she does, dressing up in a bunny suit whenever she wants to get attention or cool off, and randomly signing you and your group of friends up for sports you've never even played before, wouldn't you snark at her, too?
Strangely, despite being the sole person who can put a stop to Haruhi's actions (well, most of the time, anyway -- hell, Haruhi admits this herself and it's why she sent him to get the heater in the last episode in chronological order), he doesn't do it as often as you might think. Most of the time he just follows her around and snarks at her in his head. This is because, deep down, Kyon likely secretly appreciates the liveliness being around the SOS Brigade as a whole, and Haruhi in particular, brings to his life. After all, the guy does keep going back to SOS Brigade meetings and following Haruhi on whatever crazy idea she comes up with next.
But Kyon does put his foot down when he feels Haruhi goes to far, and doesn't hesitate to do it, either. For example, when Haruhi took the photos she forced Mikuru to pose for and tried to post them on the SOS Brigade's website, Kyon objected and forced her to take them down.
Despite being an average student, Kyon is surprisingly observant and knowledgeable. He knows more than his fair share of trivia, is up-to-date with pop culture, and has often figured things out before any of the other brigade members, Haruhi included, did. A prime example of this is when the SOS Brigade took a vacation to an island owned by a man posing as Itsuki's uncle. During the trip, Itsuki's uncle was apparently murdered. Kyon figured out both the truth and what they were expected to believe remarkably quickly. However, he waited on Haruhi to figure it out, so as not to deprive her of fun. Because we all know what happens when Haruhi gets bored.
For the most part, though, to the casual observer, Kyon seems like a typical Japanese male high school student. As I said before, he appears fairly laid-back and cynical. He gets through his life by following a tried-and-true routine, is an average student, and takes more mundane changes in his life fairly passively. Still, though, he's got a high school student's curiosity, which is probably what made Haruhi emerge on his radar in the first place.
And, of course, with a healthy male teenager comes a healthy libido. Kyon likes pretty girls. Remember those pictures of Mikuru that Kyon forced Haruhi to delete? I'll let you in on a little secret: they weren't deleted. Kyon placed them in a secret folder that he could pull up at his leisure.
Abilities: Kyon is a normal human. Thus, no special abilities.

Mmph. Morning. The worst time of day for a teenager. To a student, morning means forcing yourself from a nice, warm, cozy bed while still tired, grabbing a short, unsatisfying meal, and heading off to school for the next eight hours to cram your brain with information you'll forget as soon as the term ends.
And for an older brother, there's the inevitability of your younger sister running in and waking you up. Hence the force yanking me out of bed right now. After all, gravity doesn't work that way.

WHAT?! What is this? What's going on here?!
This is most definitely NOT where I went to sleep last night! I've never even seen this room before!
Surely there's a rational explanation for all this. Like kidnapping. Or maybe like that one CLAMP crossover manga where the group of protagonists end up in a virtual reality world without their knowing it until they're ejected from the game.
...Oh, hell, who am I kidding. Not myself, and probably not anyone listening.
Wait. What does this calendar say? ...March 1, 195-- Nineteen FIFTY?!
Okay, that's it. It's finally happened. Haruhi remade the world. Only without my knowing about it this time around. So, now, just one question remains.
Haruhi, why were you watching Grease?!
