Essay One cruelmiracle August 6 2011, 06:34:41 UTC
This job requires someone familiar with handling power, which I believe is my main qualification. I am not squeamish and am familiar with violence; I would not shy away from the task. My main goal is escape from boredom; as long as this town provides amusement I see no reason to attempt to wander from it, and a job such as this could prove amusing. I have the free time in which to do this task. My ability to teleport would make patrolling the town simple, as well as quickly responding to any area of concern before anything has been covered up.

I do not age, do not sleep, and do not need to eat. There would be no need to worry about a replacement for old age. I also do not require a salary, as there is nothing I require that money provides me. My goal is entertainment, and that is easily provided for me free of charge. Along this line of thought I cannot be bribed--money is useless to me and I already have the power I wish. There is nothing anyone in town could tempt me with. I am familiar with the telephone system and listen to it regularly. It would not be difficult to bypass a filter by listening from a different telephone, as I can teleport into any house and use theirs, or simply teleport to a pay phone.

I enjoy puzzles and would take enjoyment in tracing criminals who believe they have covered their tracks back to their houses and doling out punishment, of which I have ideas I will elaborate upon in the next essay (while droning can be effective in some cases it is clear it is not effective in all of them). The opinions of those I play against mean little to me, and seeing those who have transgressed punished could provide some degree of satisfaction, or at the least would not be boring.

I enjoy meeting and interacting with people, both for the amusement they provide and to learn about them. It would be fairly simple to pick out subversives before they carry out plans, or to simply find ways to intrude upon said plans and let them fall apart on their own. I would not wander away from the town. Mayfield is the source of entertainment, and it hasn't lost its charm as of yet.

I have no attachment to pieces, except in that they remain on the board until they have lost their use. I would not eliminate anyone needlessly, as it would run exactly counter to my aforementioned goal. I wish to see the town continue for as long as it is interesting, and so far it has proven very interesting. I do not scare and am not intimidated, as I have seen a great many things in my life. People here are far too confused and disorganized to provide a credible threat in most cases, even without the full extent of my abilities. Granted my full powers, I would be capable of avoiding almost any onslaught, and in all cases I would reach the most favorable outcome for my desires.
