To the Library!

Apr 12, 2009 23:53

Who: Yuki, Relm, anyone else in the library.
When: Afternoon.
Where: Library
Warnings: None.
What: Yuki sneaks out to go find some proper reading material.  Relm agrees to accompany her.

Neither of them were quite sure where the library was.  Yuki had climbed out a window and suffered a minor cut in the process.  The entire way, she'd merely stared at the coagulating blood as if she'd never had an injury before, hardly listening to a word Relm said.  On occasion, she would shake her head or blink or quietly respond, "Yes" -- Then again, this was hardly out of the ordinary for the robotic girl.  Fortunately, by the time they'd finally found the old building, Yuki had gotten over her fascination with her bodily processes enough to be able to take a good look at the building.

It was not entirely impressive.  The library she had visited with Kyon, she remembered, was much larger, and therefore, much more likely to hold books she was interested in.  This was an irrational thought, though.  This town was set in a time more than 50 years before her own.  It could hardly be expected to be of the same quality.  For a fleeting moment after this, she wondered if Mikuru Asahina could possibly pop in and bring them all back to the present -- this brief burst of imagination, however, was quickly filed under 'Human Daydreams'.

"Let us enter."  With that, Yuki began to soundlessly drift forward, her body leaning in a way such that her head was nearly a good foot in front of her feet.  She could feel the presence of the books already.

A stern-looking woman greeted them at the door; Yuki blinked for several moments as she stared sourly at the two young girls.  Then -- "School research project concerning the development of the modern movement of Utopian literature with a primary focus on the British author George Orwell.  We can find the way."  The drone, apparently satisfied with such an explanation, allowed the two to pass with a smile.  Yuki drifted forward a few more steps before pausing once more.

"Ahh.  Books."

She almost smiled.
