This bright Sunday morning, Layton is minding his own business in the kitchen, washing up after having insisted on giving Claire breakfast in bed and made something to eat for the boys and himself. There's a pretty bouquet in a vase at the center of the table, all red and white -- the flowers he'd given to Claire the Friday before. Accompanying it, of course, are Luke's cards, looking quite innocent. The pantry is hanging wide open after all that effort to make breakfast, and it's a bit more full than expected -- where did those chocolates and candies come from? Layton certainly didn't buy them -- he's not one to buy heart-shaped things for the occasion, considering it cliche, thoughtless, and even a little tacky. He turns from the sink a moment to look at them suspiciously; he's learned not to trust anything Mayfield gives him so freely.
