EXEC_LINKER/. Lyrics Wh-what is this...
It felt like a suppressed dream, a void that Aurica suddenly found herself in, blissfully quiet of everything, even light itself. And yet, there was something uncomfortable about it, as if she was being held without consent. A fear ran rampant in her as her subconscious showed her an absolute nothing that made her uneasy.
Her mind searched with increasingly restless anxiety, for anything to either break her out of this empty darkness or guide her toward something, anything, in herself to quell her feelings. Unfortunately that only brought emotion that would make for far more than she had asked for.
Her dream flashed a bright pink, energy that sparked through and around her, as she felt like she was floating effortlessly in the air. And then something struck Aurica: Her mouth seemed like it was moving, even if no words were coming out. In fact, the entire dream was muted; even if she tried to scream on her own, nothing happened.
That wasn't what scared her the most about it all. It became to dawn on her just what this was: When she was singing Linker, the Hymn that they had found within the Hymn Crystal they were searching for during part of her past adventure. Her horror at this realization was only matched by the sheer despair she suddenly felt, having to relive this whole thing over again.
That she would have to watch someone damn near kill himself for her sake. The energy she exuded protected her from everything, her personal sanctuary. It didn't matter to the knight clad in silver that stood there, trying to figure out how to get to her. It didn't matter to him the circumstances of her situation, it never did. All that mattered to him, or so she felt, was that he could reach out to her and free her from her prison.
She thought that he had forgotten about her, didn't understand her. In a way he still didn't. This was something she wanted to do, something only she could do, to prove to the world that she was useful and needed. It was her duty, something bestowed upon her that validated her abilities. And yet...
NO! Don't come any closer!
Again, no words came out; even her mouth did not change its movements to accommodate. She had lost control of herself minutes ago at this point, letting the Hymn sing through her as it focused on its completion. The effects of the Song Magic would follow through, in due time. Except he kept trying to break through the barrier, to break into her life again.
You'll kill yourself!
The knight pushed through the barrier, ignoring the amount of pain he was beginning to receive by becoming engulfed in the energy. Metal and mass screeched against magic and power, sending sparks flying and light every which way. A scream shot through the otherwise soundless coma, biting at her with the thorns of a thousand roses, feeling the pain she was giving him as well, as he pushed onward toward her.
STOP DOING THIS!!
Nothing stopped this person from always doing things for people, no matter at what cost to his own life. It was beginning to make sense to her, that this was his own way of being kind. No matter how selfish and distant, cold and childish she was, he always sought for her to have comfort, to be genuinely happy with herself and the world.
He would break through all the barriers in the world, anything and more, to get at what he wanted, a dream that would seep into hers as he cradled her inside their sanctuary, A reality that they would strive to make happen, together. A grand Songstress and her now-faceless Guardian, a detail that until now escaped her before she would awake from her morbid nostalgia.
