Fate finally found the poor child and was quite shocked to find Chrona in the corner, seemingly terrified. This had been completely spontaneous and she was unsure what had happened; for a moment she assumed she had done something to cause the reaction. "Ch-Chrona, what is--"

That was when the knock came and she heard the person say the child's name. She looked from Chrona to the door and back to Chrona. "Chrona. I will be right back." Fate was unsure what to expect and was both worried and suspicious when she opened the door; she was also quite surprised to find the person to be a blond woman.

"Hello. May I help you?"

Medusa waited less than patiently, only to have the door open and find someone who was very clearly not Chrona answer. She frowned, deeply. Surely Chrona wouldn't have lied to her. Chrona didn't have the nerve.

"I'm here looking for my child," Medusa said, silkily, taking a purposeful step forward. Chrona was here. She knew it. "I understand Chrona is here. Certainly, you will not stand in the way of a reunion between mother and child."

"Mother?" Between that and Medusa taking the step forward, Fate moved to the side to allow her to come in. Chrona, naturally, was trembling in the corner. She looked from Chrona to Medusa.

"You are Chrona's mother?"

Medusa could already tell this girl wouldn't be of much use to her. She had to fight back an irritated twitch, and put on her best sickeningly sweet smile. "Yes, I am. Chrona is here, yes?"

Fate was grateful to have Chrona's mother around. Perhaps her presence would help with whatever had gripped the child? Fate was still worried about why Chrona had suddenly gone into a corner shivering. It was like something had terrified the child.

"Yes. Something seems to be upsetting Chrona, though." Fate walks from the door to the living room, where Chrona was sitting in one of the corners.

"Upsetting" wasn't really the right word. Chrona was indeed sitting in the corner of the living room furthest away from the front door, knees pulled up to her chest as she shook. Her eyes were wide, and she seemed to be trying to speak, but couldn't get anything out.

How was she here again? She had died back home... then she had somehow appeared in Mayfield several months back, but was brainwashed and eventually disappeared. So why was she here again?

Chrona really didn't know how to deal with this.

Smiling a polite smile, Medusa followed Fate into the house. She hid a smirk at her words about Chrona's behavior, but covered it up quickly. When she caught sight of the girl huddled up in a corner, she put on her most sympathetic and concerned look.

She brushed passed Fate and knelt beside Chrona, reaching out to place a hand on her child's back. "Chrona."

Oh god she was reaching out for her what was going on--

... Well this was different. Was this the first time Medusa had ever touched her? The first time that didn't involve some kind of cruel punishment at least. Nevertheless, Chrona was still completely and utterly terrified. Her eyes darted from Medusa to Fate, back and fourth, as if looking for a way to escape.

Medusa glanced back over her shoulder at Fate, fake concern plastered all over her face. She knew that, at the moment, she had no powers: that in and of itself was problematic, but Chrona, it seemed, had obtained a number of... allies in her time here, some of whom were ready to jump to her defense. And frankly that was the last thing Medusa needed at the moment.

If this was what it took to keep things relatively quiet and without complication for now, then this was what she would do.

"Chrona?"

Chrona can totally do quiet. In fact, when she finally speaks, she can barely be heard.

"Y...Yes...?"

Excellent. Medusa inwardly smirked, and knelt down to better hear Chrona. "How long have you been here?" she questioned.

... That. Was a good question. Chrona had to think about it for a moment...

"... Seven months... I-I think." She finally answered.

Medusa's eyes widened in slight surprise. So this meant many things. Firstly, it meant that time here was not linear and did not match up to time back home. It certainly hadn't been seven months since she had last seen Chrona. The second thing was that Chrona had been without her influence for far too long. More than half a year. And frankly, that was quite... worrisome.

She was going to have to play this very, very carefully.

"I see," she said, softly, giving a slight nod. "What is the last thing you remember from before you arrived here?"

"You..." Chrona hesitated, again looking from her mother to Fate. What should she say?

She could lie, which would probably be the best thing to do in this situation, or she could tell the truth. She could reveal how horrible Medusa was right now to the the woman who, although Chrona had only known her for three months, seemed more of a mother to her than her true mother ever was. If Fate knew the truth, would she protect her like Maka did? But of course, if she did tell the truth, she would most likely suffer Medusa's wrath, and there was no way she wanted that.

... But what could Medusa do to her? After being in the town for so long, Chrona knew that everyone was stripped of their powers upon entry. And she herself had regained several of her own... so Medusa might not be able to hurt her. Until she got some of her magic back, at least.

Needless to say, Chrona wasn't sure what to tell her. Lies? Or the truth? Lies? Truth?

"Y-You... you...."

Well this was quite irritating. It seemed Medusa's worries did indeed have a fair bit of grounding. Before, Chrona would have answered her already, fearful of her mother's wrath. Now, though, she seemed hesitant, unsure.

This was going to have to be fixed. Quickly. Medusa couldn't have Chrona questioning her, disobeying her.

Narrowing her eyes at Chrona, she tightened her grip on the girl's shoulder: not enough to hurt her, but enough to give her the hint. "I?"

Oh yeah, she got the hint alright. But still... all these good people she knew, who have talked to her and tried to help her... they've all told her to be strong. And, despite knowing the severe consequences should she tell the truth... it was finally time for Chrona to be strong.

"You... you made Professor Stein go insane. You made him betray Shibusen..." It was clear, thanks to her shaking voice, Chrona was terrified as she spoke, but she didn't stop. And she was sure to speak loud enough for Fate to hear too.

"Me and Marie-sensei tried to bring him back... a-and you fought us. Then Maka showed up, a-and you... y-y-you almost killed me..." at this, Chrona put her hand on her chest. The wound had healed long ago, of course, but she could easily remember the pain of Medusa's vector arrow as it stabbed straight through her.

"... And then Maka killed you."
