Just before midnight the air is cool, calm, almost pleasant. Slugger drags his metal bat over the asphalt as he rolls up the street, the only sound to disturb the silence tonight. Shortly after, he skids to a halt

Ai is sitting on the floor of her room. She's just tossing a multi-coloured paper ball in the air as she sits there.

So this was why he hadn't seen her outside. Slugger watches on like a lazy cat, bored and somewhat mischievous. He'll refrain, at least for now, from taking a swing at the ball with his bat. Instead, he appears seated on the floor across from her.

"Hi."

She neatly catches the paper ball as it falls into her hands again, not startled by his sudden appearance.

Hello.

He's content to simply watch quietly for now, perhaps even a bit tired. After a little while, he stretches out on the floor, prone with his head resting upon folded arms.

It's in the moment that he's starting to drift off when he notices how light his feet feel, though he's fairly certain he forgot to remove his skates. As if by instinct, Slugger reaches for his bat but his hand finds nothing but floor.

Startled, he raises his head.

When Aaron arrives at the house, he'll find an electrical wire from a telephone leading from the hallway to the space beneath Ai's bedroom door. Following it, he will find that it leads through a seemingly empty room and beneath the closet door. If quiet, he may hear sounds of different voices coming from inside the closet...

He's worried and a bit frightened for her safety. Already forgetting he's equally vulnerable. Getting in and following the cord to the closet, not being very quiet as he's in a bit of a rush, he knocks on the closet door. He brought with him a weapon wrapped in a sheet, wondering if he should pull it out just in case.

"Ai? It's Aaron... please tell me you're okay."

The door creaks open partway but it isn't Ai that greets him. Slugger regards Aaron keenly, then peers past him into the room beyond as though to make sure no one else has followed him. After a glance over his shoulder at his closetmates, he slides the door open farther to reveal that he is joined by Ai, Kikuri, and a telephone.

Ai watches him.

"Aaron."
