Thankfully, there wouldn't be as many pigeons out in the open at night, so Crowe had it easy. Bringing a bag of breadcrumbs, he decided to lead them away instead of scaring them off and causing more noise. He left them with the bag several yards away.

Crowe then climbed into a nearby tree, getting to a branch several feet away from the statue. He brought out a small packet of matches, and used one to light the whole pack on fire before tossing it to the ground near the statue. He retreated further into the tree as fast as he could. It didn't take long for the powder to ignite, shattering the statue in a loud explosion. Crowe would use the distraction to make his silent escape.

The plan was to replace the driver they sent to pick up the pieces of the statue. Kallen had been provided with baggy, concealing clothing to disguise her gender.

Chizuko, also disguised, lay down in the middle of the road as soon as she heard the explosion.

A fallen tree lay in the middle of the road.

How had that gotten there? Kallen knew, but the truck driver likely didn't. Wearing her disguise, she snuck up from behind the truck just as it stopped in the street. As soon as the driver left the vehicle to investigate, she tapped him on the shoulder. He turned and took a kick square in the jaw; with one blow, he was down. Kallen dragged his unconscious body to the side of the road and tied him snugly to a lamppost.

That business done with, Kallen returned to the truck. She got inside and took the wheel. The fallen tree was still an obstacle, but she skirted it, driving briefly off the road. Next stop: John Doe park.

What a mess. Most of the statue is gone and Grady is furious.

This isn't fair! And they didn't even do a good job of it!

Where's the blood? Where's the screaming children? Where's the random things on fire?
