Personality: First of all, she gives off a very royal and graceful aura; When Platinum was registering for the Pokemon contest and a lot of people were glaring at her, she 'is facing them boldly and doesn't seem affected by their stares at all' (the point when Pearl did not know that Platinum wasn't their 'tour guide'), Pearl thought of her as 'She's exuding not just boldness, but class and dignity. It's almost as if she's a true lady of birth...'; this is because she is born in a rich family. Because of this, she talks in a rather formal/ polite tone and is also used to being spoiled/ treated nicely. Therefore, if you are too harsh on her, she might feel a little... Afraid and probably not understand the reason as to why you would treat her so harshly. Also, she might seem to be a little bossy at times, but she's just used to being in a rich family. However, she does not act spoilt nor is she overly dependent on people (she WAS in the beginning, actually but she gradually got less dependent over time, and finally, after one time when the trio had to 'split the work' and go off in different paths, she experienced how it felt to travel without them, and after overcoming it, she is now quite independent.) Another example of her being independent was when Looker and her had to 'split the work', Looker needing to go to Stark Mountain to check on Team Galactic but felt bad about leaving Platinum alone to challenge the Frontier Brain, so Platinum just reassured Looker that she would be fine and told him to go. She is just like a typical girl, really; she likes to shop, she likes cute and pretty things, etc. And most of all, she is overly-curious; she seems to be excited and interested in most peculiar things. This probably contributes to her reading that many books at home (second point) and her eagerness to learn (also why she reads books and has a lot of knowledge).
Secondly, she is knowledgeable. This was also most probably because she was born in a rich family, and because she says that 'I read 10 books every day back when I lived at home'. Due to her wealthy background, there would be more than sufficient money to buy books, so there would definitely be a large range in the variety of books available for her to read, therefore she is able to acquire such vast knowledge. An example of her wide knowledege is when she was able to identify a Pokemon that two ranchers were unable to identify. Not only that, she was able to state the Pokemon's height, weight and data accurately. But also, because she is knowledgeable, she is very logical and realistic; things that are out of the ordinary (e.g. vampires, ghosts, ridiculously impossible illusions, things that are definitely out of place, etc), will majorly freak her out because she simply cannot accept them. One example was when she was battling against Fantina; Fantina's Mismagius created food illusions (like flying/ floating food, food all over the place,etc) and Platinum was tormented by the illusions, while in contrary, Munchlax and Diamond were busy eating the illusions (like eating air...) and Pearl was at least doing fine- that leaves her being the one that was most affected by the illusions.
