RE: CHEEEEEEEEEEEEN! spinningorangeSeptember 3 2011, 10:02:09 UTC
Abilities: Shikigami arts- It is possible that her gift of the black arts comes as an extension of her occupation, but it isn’t truly made clear. Because of her connection to Ran as a servant, Chen’s power becomes greater as she gets closer to her master; inversely, her power weakens as she gets further away. Although Mayfield already removes everyone’s powers, it is uncertain if they could be regained due to being in a different dimension from Ran. Even if they were to be regained, they could still be lost should Chen get wet. Sample Entry: [The obscurity of this world was weighing down on Chen’s child-like mind. Because the townfolk see her as nothing than a typical cat, they saw little purpose in explaining to her the dangers of the town’s milk. She is now recovering from the horrifying hallucinations that have worn off moments ago.]
This magic is worse than anything I know! I’m running for my life and these humans scold me for breaking their stuff. They must be delusional if they couldn’t see those sponges flying faster than that black-clothed witch. This shouldn’t happen to a cat…
[Despite what her drone family would say, she was sprawled out on the couch, slowly calming herself down. Though she was inevitably forced back outside the house, Chen began balancing herself atop the fence, walking atop it with cat-like ease.]
The humans here aren’t even fun to pester; they don’t even have the nerve to give me a spot in the house! I just need to calm down and think this through…
[Hopping back down to the ground, the nekomata lied and rolled around on the ground, spinning about playfully while giggling to herself.]
We would like to see a revised personality section, as at the moment it focuses too much on Chen's powers and abilities rather than her actual self. We would like to see you go more in-depth into her personality, such as her motivations and mindset.
Re: PENDINGspinningorangeSeptember 16 2011, 09:10:55 UTC
I apologize for taking so long with the revisions, but I've put extra effort into making sure it stays on topic. ^^' In any case, here it is:
Although her child-like appearance may be misleading, Chen is a dutiful shikigami with a fierce loyalty to her master, Ran Yakumo. Although she is charged with guarding the village of Mayohiga, she will still rush off to defend her master when she is in need, as seen in Perfect Cherry Blossom’s extra stage. In such times of need, Chen prioritizes her relationships over her duties (not that her duties have much to them; Mayohiga doesn’t get many visitors save for the heroines).
As loyal as she is, Chen is by no means rash; she will sooner use her deception and reasoning rather than her claws or her powers to battle opponents, such as leading pursuers to an area where she would have an advantage. She often has to rely on her wit due to her lack of strength; as such, Chen can be a very clever thinker when the time truly calls for it.
Having said that, it should be made clear that Chen’s ideas aren’t always the most logical ones; her child-like intellect often has her concocting less than effective methods of achieving something. She once tried to get cat servants for herself, but was left confused about why they wouldn’t listen to her despite the fact that she constantly provided them with food and catnip; despite being a servant herself, Chen was blind to the boundary between servants and pets. This isn’t due to foolery or a lack of intelligence; this is due to a level of innocence that could match her shikigami powers. She can easily understand the concepts of love and loyalty, ideas instilled into everyone at birth, but for ones that take time, and to a certain extent, wisdom to understand, such as authority, will require explanation before she can grasp at the concept.
Though she is a very capable and simple-minded cat, her mentality will only go as far as the more basic of ideas. Much like how children can be very straightforward with their expressions and their words, Chen can also be very straightforward with her actions and thoughts, especially when her curiosity is piqued. Understandably, the best way for anyone to get through to her would be a direct approach. It’s likely that people can become agitated when trying to explain something to her (as it sometimes is with children; innocence doesn’t allow a very far scope), but her limited mindset can offer a special kind of insight that becomes lost with age and knowledge…just don’t expect it to shine too often from her.

You've been accepted, but we do have a question on housing! Will Chen be coming in as a human or as a cat? (To clarify, if she appears to be human, the drones will regard her as human until she regains the ability that lets her appear as a cat to other people. If you'd like the drones to regard her as a cat, then she will be a completely normal cat that can talk until she's regained her human appearance.) If she's in a human body, she won't be able to be housed in a pet slot, but we can put her in one of the child slots if she appears to be under 18.

I'll be alright with having her come in as a cat. She'll be taking up the pet slot, and since other characters (Like Utsuho of Touhou Project, as I've heard) have had this sort of thing to choose, I'd like to do the same. If anything, I can wait until the first regain to give her back her appearance; I want to jump on any events that I can. ;D
