Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz | Phineas and Ferb | 2/2 lampdevil July 5 2011, 04:33:47 UTC
Personality: The universe at large has it out for Heinz Doofenshmirtz. His parents never loved him, his brother got all the attention, his peers taunted and bullied him, and he generally fails horribly at anything that he attempts. Life has done everything that it can to try and crush him, but he defies it all and rises again, always willing to try to assert his fundamental superiority and awesomeness. He has the willpower (and the alimony checks) to recover from enormous setbacks. He also has a general, free-range, cartoonishly petty hatred for pretty much everything and everyone, everywhere.

He is evil. Absolutely evil! After all, he has the evil doctorate and the evil tattoo to prove it. Not to mention his own evil company, a variety of evil bases, and enough attempted evil deeds to earn himself a secret agent platypus nemesis. But his evil is also cartoonish and petty. He would much rather humiliate, horrify, or inconvenience a foe than seriously harm them. There are certain lines that, though he hasn't been presented with, he is highly unlikely to cross. There is a "good" side to him, small and atrophied and disused.

When one has this much evil in him, it leaks out in entertainingly bombastic ways. Doofenshmirtz is off-kilter, prone to odd turns of phrase and long rambling rants. He can monologue with the best of them, and will purposely restrain people, set up a stage, and even prepare a song-and-dance musical number to better help get his point across. He can't carry a tune in a bucket, but it's his passion. If he hadn't been drawn to mad science, he might have taken up a career in music production or art or at least busking. But hey, that ship has long since sailed.

Dr. Doofenshmirtz is divorced, and maintains a reasonably-civil relationship with his ex, Charlene. They have a daughter, Vanessa Doofenshmirtz, who he genuinely loves and cares for. Much of that love is overcompensation for his horrible childhood, and he genuinely wants his daughter to be happy and to have all of the things that he never did. That his daughter doesn't much appreciate this doting doesn't dissuade him. Once Heinz Doofenshmirtz gets an idea into his head, there's little chance of getting it back out.

Being a mad scientist leaves little chance for friendship, as well. Evil science is a cut-throat competitive field, and Doofenshmirtz is more concerned with outperforming his peers than befriending them. He considers average citizens of Danville to be below him... and they mostly annoy the heck out of him, anyway. His most common "social" contact is with Agent P, the platypus secret agent from OWCA. Agent P is his nemesis, the one who thwarts all of his schemes and ruins all of his plans... but he's one of the few constants in the doctor's life. If P doesn't show up to give him a hard time, he starts to be concerned... but will still loudly express that he hopes something horrible has happened to him to cause the delay. He has an evil reputation to maintain, after all.

Although he has been terminally unlucky in love, he will go to great lengths to impress and woo a woman that he takes an interest in. Many -inators will be built. Many building codes will be broken. Much dignity will be shelved.

Abilities: Other than his mad science, Heinz Doofenshmirtz is an average (if cartoonish) human being. While absurd physics-defying, budget-busting gadgets are commonplace in his world, I suspect that none of that will hold up once he gets to Mayfield. I'd prefer to have him earn back his Doctorate of Evil Science. And then possibly some of the awesome parts that he orders off of the Internet.
