Background: COPIED FROM HERE. Hanna is best described as an overly enthusiastic, obnoxious child in the body of a twenty four year old man. Yes, he’s twenty four, yes he would love it if you bothered to remember, yes he can drink, and yes ladies, he’s single. Hanna finds glee in almost every aspect of his life, even the things that suck. He seems to believe that without your hardknock experiences you are ill suited to better appreciate the good things that come into your life. While that may seem wise beyond his years, don’t give up too much hope because he regularly exudes a far more pressing childlike innocence and naivety. It’s that same naivety that has him INSISTING upon being a paranormal investigator when it seems rather obvious to everyone that he’s not all that great at it.
He at least is semi-prepared. Hanna’s weapon of choice is a hammer with some sort of rune on it and a magic marker in which to write more runes. This is his primary way of casting and so far it seems to do him well enough in that he’s not DEAD yet. That amounts for something! There are a lot of oddities about Hanna [besides his behavior] that are yet to be explained and he always would rather change the subject awkwardly than answer any questions even if, like a big hypocrite, he will ask you a million questions about yourself and expect you to answer with the greatest sincerity.
All in all, Hanna is not the sharpest crayon in the box but he is, at least, the most loyal of them all.
So being a paranormal investigator is pretty damn boss, am I right? You know what's even MORE boss? Having a zombie as your partner. That day when he opened his door to a Very Tall green toned man? changed his life... for the better! I mean no one really took him seriously before (and they still don't, to be absolutely honest) but now he had a partner! A ZOMBIE partner, that totally makes him legit.
But... that doesn't necessarily make him any better at his job. For instance, his first real case went so badly his client got killed (hi, Conrad!)-- but with quick thinking, some vampire blood and presto! Mr. Achenleck is now known as Mr. Conrad 'Dracula' Achenleck! ...well maybe not, but wouldn't that be cool? Needless to say getting your client killed definitely makes it a big fat failure. But if Hanna knows one thing? You learn from your mistakes, he stays incredibly upbeat despite his constant misunderstanding of situations and lack of proper preparations.
Then there was the ghost. Didn't you know? dude totally rustled (unintentionally) with a ghost. As per usual it did NOT end well, in fact he ended up fainting like a Fairy Princess™ and had to be charted off to the good... ...the NOT so good Doc Worth to get patched up. We don't get to see what this entails, as Worth conveniently pushes {...} and Connie out of the room. But we do know he is given ~mysterious unlabeled medicine~, and a firm talking to to NEVER go 'ghost-hunting' ever again. EVER.
But that's no fun! Who needs to listen to a man who wears a fur lined lab coat indoors, right? You're darn tootin' I'm right! So with Toni (the totally fabulous girl who asked for his help in the first place) in tow, along with the disgruntled noob vampire and his ever amazing undead partner they go back to the theater the ghost haunts and it's time to go ghost busters on his ass! Except not really, when the ghost went through him he sort of saw where the body was, hoping to bring the ghost peace. And after meeting a shark... seal, human teenager? thing. They find out the true identity of aforementioned ghoulie and so his next case is already settled!
Whew! Suddenly being a paranormal investigator isn't so bad!
But now new problems have arised. A pair of new vampires (seriously you guys, they're everywhere-- like cockroaches) were all up in his business about sassy bat (the chick vampire that ate Connie) and how he needs to track her down- yadda yadda, and on top of that he is on the lookout for a selkie pelt (helping Veser, our favorite shark boy.)
Personality: As stated Hanna is a twenty four year old, who both looks and acts like he is fourteen. But really... don't tell him this, he's very aware of his physical shortcomings thank you, he owns a mirror. He's cheerful, energetic and optimistic to a fault, but there is also something about him you can't quite put a finger on. No no, it's not the fact that he's crazy as a butter knife (...I just made that up, but it totally fits if you use your imagination) because you notice this early on. It's the fact that despite how friendly and outgoing he is... we know nothing about him-- and there are things to know, let me assure you.
In the second chapter of the comic we learn that Hanna is privy to some questionable care from Doc Worth, it's 'classified' and don't forget what the good doctor has said prior to Hanna waking up, making a casual comment on the fact that Hanna weighs next to nothing, saying how should he know? he's not a damn witch doctor. Hanna is given unknown medicine, and in the same chapter we uncover something rather shocking; his chest cavity is quite literally stapled together. Again he doesn't tell {...} what that means, exactly- that it's leftover from a mess he has yet to clean up.
Not only is our boy mysterious in mysterious ways, he can get angry. 'So what' you begin, 'everyone gets angry' and that may be so, but not Hanna. This brings us to how loyal he is. This is because before meeting {...} and his soon to be E.P.P (entourage of paranormal people, I'm really clever today) he was incredibly lonely, so when he finds people who actually stand to be in his presence for a long period of time, he tends to stick by them.
There is also something somber about him, that we haven't quite gotten to, it all has to do about his mysterious past. He's none too bright, he's childish and never thinks things through, often running right into danger- but there is an entire other layer to him that has remain untouched, we haven't even begun to see. Abilities: Hanna uses magic! Again we don't exactly know what kind, just the fact it apparently makes him stink to those who have superior noses- because it 'taints his blood' and apparently THAT smells like death. Who knew. ANYWAY...
Hanna's tools of the trade are as follows;
A hammer with a magical rune on it. It seems to be able to detect paranormal activity from what I gather.
A magic marker. Hanna uses this to draw more runes on himself causing him to use magic. Again we don't know what type of runes or what magic he dabbles in, but it tends to be super effective™.
Sample Entry: So I've been thinking, and I don't think I'll discuss it with... uhm. ...'The wife'.
[liiitle lip twitch, may or may not be grinning like an idiot.]
A wife! I have a wife! An honest to goodness woman! A REAL woman, and she isn't grossed out by me or anything! We even sleep in the same bed. Well she sort of pushes me to the side but it's the same bed!
...What was I talking about? Oh! Right!
So I was thinking, I don't want to be the boring old dad with the boring old job in the boring old library- I think I'm going to print out some personal cards in my spare time. AAAAND you know what that means~♪
Paranormal investigating, so it'll be like back home! I'm pretty excited! Gneee~.

And that's where we leave Hanna and company!
