Canon Update - Zevran Arainai 3/3rogue_crowJune 21 2010, 18:55:42 UTC
Updated Personality: Zevran's personality will be very similar post-game to how it was pre-game, with only a few minor alterations. Having made friends he can trust, and having eventually become trusted himself, he is now more open to the idea of trusting others, and is a bit less paranoid(though no less likely to plan ahead with paranoia in mind, if only because it's almost always better to be cautious); further, he has spent a lot of time in the service of the Wardens and seen a lot of altruistic acts on their part, to say nothing of having been removed from the Crows for awhile, so he might be a bit nobler of intention than he used to be, and more likely to only kill when necessary. Technically, he was already reluctant to kill anyone without good cause prior to his update, but that was for largely self-serving reasons - being trapped in a town where the person you killed will come back and potentially seek revenge was a significant concern for him, and still will be, but now he will also take the morality of it into consideration to some degree.
Aside from that, the biggest changes to him will be the friends he's made in the form of his traveling companions and what he went through with them; he'll be more experienced, more traveled, a stronger fighter to some degree, more likely to feel comfortable relying upon others in battle and more ready to enter direct combat, and possess a lot more anecdotes about things he's done and conversations he's had since there will be that much more canon for me to draw off of ICly when writing him.
Updated Abilities: I don't really plan on having Zevran make use of specific abilities learned in Dragon Age(a lot of which are stat bonuses or attack bonuses and the like and thus hard to realistically apply to an RP setting anyway), but having fought a bunch of powerful opponents in direct combat over the course of the game as opposed to the stealthy assassinations he was probably used to in the Crows will have made him a bit stronger, faster, and experienced in combat than he was previously, although that will be hard to measure or show in RP as well since they're not glaringly significant changes. (People who have fought him before - which really is only Olivier Armstrong right now - may notice he's a bit tougher than before, but that's probably the only difference it will make.) I may also change his weapon regain (for whenever he earns it) to be a sword and dagger (or even two full-size swords; being able to dual-wield full-size weapons is an ability from Dragon Age that I could carry over) rather than a pair of daggers, since he'll have upgraded his equipment over the time that's elapsed - it actually should have been a sword and dagger originally, since I forgot those were the weapons he has when you encounter him, so this allows me to retroactively correct what he'll expect to get back weapon-wise. (He'll also have definitely been equipped with a longbow by the end of the game, but that will be a separate regain than the blades since they're two different weapon sets even in the context of the game.)
