Sakuya! Flan! Patchy! Meiling!

[There's no cannibals in the immediat vicinity, but Remilia's seen them, so her need to find the other has become even more urgent. Of course, how long "no cannibals" will last with her running around yelling like this...]

We're alright, Remi... Meiling and Sakuya have done their part to protect us...

-And without her magic, that's all really what Patchouli can be. Protected.-

Ah, Patchy!

[The voice is faint, but she'd never miss her best friend!]

[ A ninja, Meiling is not. But in order to prevent herself from drawing unwanted attention during the night raid for supplies, she's taken to tying her hair into a bun and tucking all of it into a dark green kerchief wrapped over her head. She doesn't exactly blend in, but as long as she sticks to shadows and keeps the cans in the bag slung across her shoulder from rattling too much, she should be fine, right?

That was the plan, at least. But it's getting to be obvious that those seemingly random sounds some distance behind them are not so random after all.

She ducks down behind the remains of a wall and tries to calm down her rapid breathing. When her silver-haired partner joins her, she looks quite concerned. ] ...do you think they saw us?

[It's easier for Sakuya to stay quiet, to be still and calm her breathing. It's a skill that came from her years before entering Remilia's service. One had to be silent, blend into the shadows, and patient.

Even still, it's not going to work against every kind of enemy and Sakuya knows this. As prepared as she is, or tries to be, even she could step on a stray twig or trip over a piece of debris. The rattling might be faint, but it's still enough to attract attention.]

Saw us, no. But the noises are getting closer. I think they can hear even if they can't see.

[Her voice is a whisper, but it still seems loud.]

[ It's that experience that comforts her, but that doesn't seem to be doing them both a lot of good right now. She risks a quick glance over the barrier, but sees nothing. ] Should we wait them out?

No. The longer we stay in one place away from the others, the more likely they are to worry. There's enough on their plates without that.

[Sakuya stands, looking around.]

Let's go. Quick and quiet.

[ Meiling just finished securing the passage to the surface, so now was time for a brief respite. Catching naps is difficult to do in a crisis, and she doesn't have as much energy to work with as she normally would. She's grateful to have at least kept her body as it was, but what most people don't realize is that it's incredibly taxing without the full package.

It's probably because she overdoes everything. Like insisting on using a slab of concrete as a "door" for the outside, when something like a fridge would have sufficed. Or using both despite looking paranoid. She doesn't care -- when it comes to protecting her family and friends, Meiling doesn't understand the meaning of "going too far".

But now that it's done she decided it was time to lean against the wall and shut her eyes for just a few short minutes... ]

[ How are those two things related? She starts to lilt toward one side, as the wall isn't very even. ]

Day 3 / Patchouli's death wizardoftheweek November 28 2011, 05:45:09 UTC
-It was inevitable.

Patchouli had always lacked physical constitution. It was a fact of life for those among the mansion, or anyone that knew her well enough. When she had collapsed earlier in the day, at first, it seemed to just be from hunger. But the food she took couldn't be kept down, and her fever never seemed to go down no matter what was attempted. The nosebleeds, the earbleeds, the pain, the fact that her hair looked thin and frail. That she looked to even be on death's door...

It was inevitable. All that was left was to say goodbye. And to try to dull the pain...-

[Marisa had been denying it most of the day, trying to keep up the hope that things would be okay. But she knew and the fact that she refused to be out of physical contact with Patchouli except to deal with her own call of nature and hide how badly her leg was bleeding again, made it pretty clear to that she knew, despite her words.

When the earbleeds started, Marisa couldn't let herself deny it anymore. She picked her girlfriend up and found a place to sit comfortably with her leg as it was. The others deserved the chance to be say their words, but Marisa selfishly wanted this moment, this horrible moment, to them alone.

She wouldn't stop the others from coming over, not at all, but there were tears slipping down her face as she whispered words she never thought she would in the way she had to.]

Thank you... for loving me.

Saying something like that... The sentimentality doesn't suit you... shouldn't it... be more like... "I'll see you on the other side, ze"...

-Patchouli laughed a bit, though it inspired a cough. She knew it was happening...-

Please... Don't let the last thing I see... be you looking so sad...

I had to say it, love. If I didn't thank you for the impossible, I wouldn't be able to smile.

[She swallows and wipes at her tears, giving Patchouli that smile she wants to see so much. This is hard, but Marisa has to find a way to do it.]

I'll find you, you know. Totally gonna kick the Yama's ass until she tells me where you are. Even this can't get rid of me, ze. 'Sides... you got more books for me to borrow.

Day 2 - evening adropofjupiter November 28 2011, 06:04:50 UTC
[There's the sound of a vehicle coming from above ground and the cries of cannibals in pain. Upon investigating, the source will be one vehicle with MASTER SPARK painted on the side and a laughing witch behind the wheel.

Some might even see the tiny vampire in the passenger side looking out at all the cannibal-shaped roadkill left behind.]

-Whatever lack of subtlety they had was quickly forgotten in the pure wave of relief Patchouli felt.-

[Flandre chitters and perks up at the sound...though she's not quite tall enough to see over the car doors without standing up.]

Patchouli! Are you there? I heard your voice!

[Bringing the vehicle to a stop, Marisa leans out the window and grins at Patchouli.]

Heya, baby. Wanna go for a ride?
