Den-O's Finale, Kiva 1st Ep and cooking today: Chilatole!!

Feb 01, 2008 22:30

Final thoughts on Den-O:

I was overwhelmed. I didn't thought I was only missing 3 episodes and how they wrapped the series.
How they were a team, and the importance of memory!!! Wah, OMG DENEB!!!!!!! ;___;
Most of the time Channaka looks so girly, but he can be manly while defending Airi-san!!!1111 XD
Because of new year he changed the hair? I haven't rewatched ep 46, so I don't recall when he changed the hair ^^;;;
It was nice to see despite all, Yuuto remains, although Sakurai-san doesn't (And who the hell was the actor for Sakurai-san anyway? O.o). The Yuuto-Ryotarou fans can be pleased.
Why grown-up Hana-san retirned!?!?!?!?!
And still I have the expectation that someday Channaka will be the main Rider on a KR series, maybe on the future he will be a grown up/more mature rider like Hibiki. ^^
Yeah, Kiva has it tough to surprass this one.
And where I can get the wing form OP song? That last version was adorable!!! ^^

Kiva impressions:

(Actually, this screencap is from a Kiva trailer after Den-O's finale, there's NO Katokei in the first episode, and I'm quite lazy to screencap the OP looking for him XP;;)

I'm always amazed by the fact how every new KR series they try to surpass the previous one. Sometimes it look fantastic and others they overdo it.
 Like the Henshin, OMG, so much LOL in there. Maybe I'm accustomed to the Ore Sanjou!! still.
And the way they made flashbacks like turning an hourglass made the episode dynamic, as long they don't abuse of it...
How Seto's character is lined, I recognize it will make it likeable.
It was quite cheap the chest-baredness on the OP if you ask me, Of course the guy is an adult, but still can't get him as one, ew.
It was quite funny that he has leg hair, of course he does, but ew. I might like the character, but I prefer If you don't service me, please.
The best thing: we have a talking henshin device!!! I liked Kabuto's Zecters and this one talks!  :D
Kouhei landed in a good role, hope they don't waste him. Still gotta get used to the hair.
Katokei, where are you? I suspect he'll be the sidekick, make him a decent one, please?
Oh, and we have female characters thay can kick ass!! That's new.
The first baddie was HanaKimi's Oscar? I'm bad whith names. ^^;;

What in the hell was the dragon, brontosaurus, Nessie trapped on a building thing??!?!?!?! O.o??

Anyway. It was better than I anticipated, it's catchy (for the Seto fans eye-catching) and people will get to like it, maybe.

Today's recipe, chilatole!!!

It is known as chileatole or mole de olla in central Mexico and I suspect is a dish of mountain zones, not the coast, because despite being 2 hours away, in the Veracruz it isn't popular.
On the contrary, in Xalapa you can get it in any restaurant and it's served in the menu of the day.
Since the weather is getting bad, the time is proper to eat it, because it's better to eat it while hot. ^^

Basically is a stock with chili, you can make it with chicken or beef.

Ingredients:

2 potatoes
1 carrot
2 corn
1 courgette
1 chicken leg and thigh
4 tomatoes
2 chiles secos without the tail y only recommend 2, or even 1 if you aren't used to hot food.
1/2 kg of masa <--that's the difficult part, right? maybe you can't get that one easily. There's a brand of corn flour that you can make the dough adding water, but I don't know if it works the same, sorry. ^^;;

1. Make a chicken stock o "caldo de pollo": boil together pieces of chicken with vegetables a piece of onion and a garlic clove, if you want, you can add those chicken soup powder too.
You can use vegetables as courgette, corn, chayote, potato, carrot as in this case. Boil until half cooked I added a bit of cilantro, but if you don't like it, Mama bear uses epazote.

2. On another pot you boil 3 tomatoes and the chiles secos, careful, it's gonna smell a bit!! put a lid on and when they're boiled you can take them out because of the smell. Once they're cooked, peel of the tomatoes and blender them with the chili, a bit of the water used and a ball of masa, maybe half the size of your fist, this will give some thicken the stock. You can do it on the blender, I have a Braun. ^^

3. Add some oil into a pan and fry that mix until season (15 min more o less), the color will change and it's going to thick, you have to move regularly, because it can stick to the pan. When it's done pour it into the stock and bring to boiling point.

4. With the corn dough, you'll have to knead for a while, add a bit of water, salt and if you can a pinch of lard, if you don't have the last one, it's ok. Once you kneaded a bit, make tiny balls and poke them in the center with a finger, those will be the "ears" or "bellybuttons" some people call them that, I know them as "orejas" XD

5. While boiling add carefully one by one trying to stir carefully because they can stick to each other or lose their form.
Boil until the "ears" are cooked (30-40 minutes), you'll notice the color and apperance will change.

This is the final result:

It's recomendable to use the corn meal, it really makes a difference in taste but if not, it will look as a colored stew, and will taste fine too.

Is something similar where you live?
