Notes on Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge

Jan 26, 2010 02:05

As work is eating my time, there won't be a list of dramas and if I get to watch some, I'll post a few notes.

First drama of the season: Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (Or Perfect Girl Evolution/The Wallflower, depending the translation you find).

Remember what I said about Sawako from Kimi no Todoke? Sunako is the real thing: loves dark stuff, horror films, collects anatomy dolls and skulls. She's just a girl who chose to live in the shadows when  she was told she was "ugly". So things will get difficult when she gets to live with a bunch of ikemen with the mission to convert her in a lady. Lots of crazy adventures ensue. For a character's guide, wikipedia is your best friend, but as a tip I'd tell that Kyouhei's seiyuu in the anime is Morikubo Showtaro. ;D

Adapting this story can't be easy when you come from this:

[I really think it's important the part when Sunako melts and has nosebleed whenever he sees ikemens or "radiant creatures" and that they don't showcase the fact that Sunako has dandruff and bad skin.]

[I know it's a crappy screencap, but really, don't have much time. ^^;;
The anime has lots of fanservice, chibis, dark tones and even the narrative tone has been changed, the boys and even Hiroshi are (an anatomy model) the ones telling the story or giving types about "how to be a girl". >>;; I gave up halfway through because I liked the manga better.]

I kinda like the adaptation even when they changed the setting to college students, of course (though the guys are even kinda old for that too XDD).

The girl is relatively good, but she is still mada mada with her intonation.

There's not Takeshi in the manga (at least on the 14 volumes I read a while ago) but it's amazing how just a tiny kid EATS all the cast.

Canon says Kyouhei has lighter hair but Kame is good. But the chola eyebrows are fugly.
I'd never thought I'd ever say this, as I don't give a rat's ass about NEWS, but Tegoshi makes an amazing girl (is the one in the pink dress). O.O And Uchi not. At least in the manga at the crossdressing part was done in a more realistic way, usiong scarfs to cover the Adam's apple.

The worse part is that I liked Uchi's character on the manga a lot, though Ranmaru is so much love on this drama. XDD

The only lowdown on YamaNade's drama is that HORRIBLE OP. Or maybe it's KATTUN's fault. >>;;
People saying SMAP can't even make a coordinate dance should STFU. How you get  THREE Johnnys and a ballet dancer on a series and make them look out of rythm. D:

je i want my brain back, jdramas, anime talk, i'm into news for the member ai, be afraid this is a kat-tun tag
