In honor of finishing up my first week of doing support, I thought I'd post an excerpt from an email I wrote my mom earlier today:
"On top of that, a bunch of the LiveJournal support admins and SHs sent me virtual 'V-Gifts' on LJ with messages personally thanking me for the support work I've done so far. The V-Gifts themselves just display little pictures of blinking ponies on my profile (it's a support joke) but they're some of the best presents I've ever gotten. It's nice when a user sends you a thank you message for helping them out, but to get that from another support volunteer…that feeling is amazing and makes all the hours I've put into it so far completely worth it. If positive feedback and appreciation were legal tender, I'd never need another job."
And I really mean it. I can't express how much I appreciate the way that all the support volunteers have welcomed me into the group and made me feel like a contributing member instead of just "the new guy". Everyone has been immensely helpful and patient as I learn the ropes, and I'm sure that will continue as I continue to do support. I feel a little weird getting all gushy over a whole 7 days of work, but in those 7 days I have developed relationships that I hope will last for as long as I do support - which at this point is looking like quite a long time.
Thanks again to everyone. Now stop reading and get back to degreening! Those password reset requests (unfortunately) won't close themselves!
