So tonight I went on a date.
I have chatted to this guy a couple of times online and he was quite keen to meet. So naturally my guard was up.
He lives in Parramatta and came to me as I said I don't have easy transport.
We met at the local pub, had a drink and played pool (I shouldn't point out that I won both games should I? Or at least I should point out that I won the second game because he sunk the white off the black in any case).
He offered to buy another round of drinks but I instead suggested we get some dinner. We went to an Italian restaurant here. He popped out and bought a nice bottle of Penfolds Cab Sav. I had Canneloni and he had Lasagne. The chatter was nice and relatively free flowing the whole time. Oh and the Tiramisu was great.
He paid, I offered to pay some and he said no. He was a gentleman the entire time. He wasn't sleazy, there was no pressure, he was genuinely a lovely guy.
Pity I'm not attracted to him. He walked me home, gave me a kiss on the cheek and went on his way, I think he's a bright lad and realised there wasn't a spark.
So, while there's no follow up date with him, it has restored my faith that there are nice guys out there who can take a girl on a traditional date, pay the way and not expect something in return. Now to find the nice guy who suits me.
Oh, I have another date tomorrow, with a different guy. I have more time and brain space now so might actually endeavour out in to the dating world.
Oh and on a different note, my grass hockey team won 5-0 today. The turf team plays tomorrow morning at 9am (ouch!). So off to bed for me.
