Bordeaux, France

Bright and early we caught the Busabout bus in to France. The trip from San Sebastián to Paris is the longest on the Busabout loops with two optional stops along the way and who am I to skip out on France? So we stopped in Bordeaux for two nights where we did very little except be amused by the quaint little hotel we were in and drink wine. If you're going to drink wine, Bordeaux is a bloody good place to do it. We had tried to get in on a winery tour but they were all booked out so we just decided it would be a place to relax. We went and found some lunch and of course followed that with dessert, turns out pastries are still great in France too! There was a circus in town so we headed out to see that and while it was sad to see so many animals still used in a circus, they didn't look distressed and I have to admit the Seals were my favourite. Yes, Seals performing in a circus, somehow I just never thought that happened. Plus they were being cheeky, misbehaving and generally showing off to the crowd which was pretty funny. The acrobats and aerialists were quite good too. I do have to say that one highlight of the circus was in fact the fairy floss bigger than your head and approaching the size of a torso. Thankfully we just shared one between us, otherwise we'd have been in diabetic coma's before interval.

The next day we went for a walk through town, had more pastries, and perhaps some lunch, and checked out the main sights of the town. Having watched The Way on route to San Sebastián, we continued to find many of the pilgrim signs and of course, the churches they stop at, so it was a nice continuation of the theme. I had a Thai massage which was much needed and quite good. That evening, we found our way to a wine bar the hotelier had recommended to us, so we sat drinking wines and eating chocolate, that's what you do right? Eventually we decided we had better get some dinner so we cheated and went to the Chinese place across the road from the Hotel. It was pretty much all you can eat Entree, a Main (if you could figure out what was what) and a dessert. We were so full by the end of it we nearly rolled, but resorted to waddling across the road back to the hotel and bed.

The next morning we got up and zipped by the local Paul bakery to grab breakfast, lunch and pastry for the road and waited for the Busabout Bus to Tours.
