Ghost hunting in Cesky Krumlov

Krumlov is on the way from Prague to Vienna, and Emily, Maya and I were all jumping off busabout to stop there for 2 nights. Bec was heading straight to Vienna and we would see her there for a last dinner a few night's later. The busabout guide told us of Krumlov's history... It's a medieval town which is incredibly picturesque. The hostel we were staying at was the one the horror movie 'Hostel' was filmed in. Oh, and also it's haunted...
We rocked up in town, and it's tiny. We had lunch at the deli connected to the hostel, oh my god it was tasty. We went for a walk through town and looked at the palace and the Bear Pit. Yes, they have brown bears in a pit at the palace, clearly it's their own novelty, but the bears we're so clearly bored and depressed :(

In reality, the town only took a few hours. We did our tourist shopping and headed back to the hostel. We decided to watch a movie, Euro Trip, which was filmed almost entirely in the Czech Republic and I'd never seen before. It was a bit painful and a bit amusing. By the time that was finished, we were hungry so we decided to grab a quick and cheap bite at the restaurant attached to the hostel. That's when it all fell apart. We took about half an hour to even get the waitresses attention and order. That should have been the first warning, but we were hungry and just wanted dinner and no effort. After 30mins we were starving and asking questions but the waitress ignored us. After 45 mins, I demanded some bread because we were starving. Long story and frustration short, it took 2 hours to get our meals. We ate and left immediately, desperate for the early night we'd planned but was derailed by a 10pm dinner. We were really cranky.

The next morning we had a lazy start, I skyped Wonderboyf and had some more deli lunch. The afternoon, we went on the river pub crawl. Effectively 4 people per raft paddle down and stop off at as many pubs as you like. We had enough for 3 rafts and Emily, Maya and I collected a cool new traveller, Tori who fit right in with us. We cruised down the river and stopped off first at the on water cocktail bar. We all had a mojijto and then kept cruising along. Em and Maya were terrified of the 'rapids' but they turned out to be really easy slides past weirs, and super fun. We stopped at 3 camping grounds with bars, and eventually made it in to town where bars had steps down to the river and a place to tie up your boat. We had been warned on the bus not to swim in the river, not to put our head under as everyone who had previously came down with a really bad illness, we're talking both ends going at once for 48hours. So we were all paranoid about that. We saw a place that sold cocktails so we pulled up and I jumped out on the the mud flat to tie up the boat. Well, I thought it was a mud flat... Turns out the mud was not solid and I sank up to my thighs in fouls smelling mud. I'm choosing to believe it was mud only. We all naturally burst in to hysterical laughter and I was stuck in the suction laughing stupidly hard. We gave up on that bar and I slowly extracted myself, my thong even had a blow out but I saved it from the mud. I threw my top half in to the boat and let my legs and mud stay in the water in an attempt to wash off. The next rapid was crap, we had to get out and drag the boat down, it was a great opportunity for me to properly wash off.

In town we stopped at another cafe/ wine bar for a nice wine as most of the wine to date had been awful. Next thing I know, Louise, who we'd met in Prague, wandered up having recognized my voice. So, we convinced her to come along for the rest of the pub crawl, and she was our hitchhiker :) we stopped at a few more pubs and then ended up back at the hostel, dragging our boat up the stairs to the drop off point. I the dashed off for a hot shower in an attempt not to get river plague. I don't remember what we had for dinner that night, but the next morning was far more interesting!

I wake up and get up early, so I headed down and had breakfast. A bloke also staying there, Dan was up, and said he'd been up since 3am, which I thought was a bit odd. Turns out, he'd been in the room that was haunted. Their entire dorm woke up and experienced a cloaked figure walking up and down the room and walking up to beds. It left the room but they heard light switches going and none of the had touched them. They freaked out and went down to the kitchen and stayed up. I heard this and then saw Emily, from my room. Our room isn't haunted, but Emily came in and asked Maya and myself if she'd been shouting in her sleep to wake up. Se'd dreamed a ghost was walking up and down the room and walking up to the beds. I then recounted Dan's story too her. When we can't up with Tori later that morning, she hadn't slept well. Someone had been flicking the light switches on and off at around 3am. She told the boys upstairs to stop it, they said they weren't doing anything. She dismissed it. In the dark she heard footsteps and saw someone walking though the room, she assumed it was someone checking in late, or perhaps the Korean guy who seemed to be up at all hours. The next morning, she discovered the Korean guy was in the kitchen the whole time, no one checked in late, and the heard Dan's story and realised her lights switching was the lights switches he heard. Talk about freaky! And both of them had another night to stay in Hostel 99 too.
So, we left them to their scary hostel and jumped on the busabout bus to Vienna!
