Diffinitive way forward.
For those of you not so up to speed, I have been offered a job with Marrickville Council, but I'd also had a great interview with the City of Sydney, which I've been waiting to hear back from (and going slowly mad!)
Just had a phone call from the City of Sydney, unfortunately I was unsuccessful. But boy was I close!
Turns out they interviewed 14 people and whittled it down to 6 preferred candidates who could do the job or even exceed expectations of which I was one. The two positions available became 3 as the other Program Manager came back from Long Service Leave and decided to resign. So it became a jigsaw puzzle for them fitting 3 of 6 candidates in to the programs and it all came down to specialised skills and experiences and how they fit in to the available roles and would work together. They said it was really hard to choose and by the way he kept emphasising how close I was, I get the feeling I was number 4 of 6.
They've put me on their suitability list which means if anything happens and a position becomes available, they can call me direct rather than go through the whole advertising process again. They said they were really happy with me and my interview and my ideas and it was a pleasure meeting me, and he was sincere! And he said to keep an eye on their advertising and keep in touch.
So all in all really great feedback and I have an excellent job to go to anyway! I told them I would be very interested to stay on their suitability list and working for the City is definitely a goal in my sights. Feeling very positive about myself right now :)
