The Marquette WHAT?!?!?
I can't freaking believe the stupidity of my university's trustees.
People were offering the school millions of dollars to change our school name from the prissy sounding Golden Eagles back to our older name, the Warriors. We didn't want the Native American mascot back, you understand, just the name, cuz "Way to go, Golden Eagles, Way to go" just has no rhythm.
So the school sent out this huge alumni questionaire, which I spent like an hour filling out, asking which we liked better, if we should change back, and why. Only one question asked if we should change it to a new name altogether, to which I answered an emphatic no, stating this would be making NO ONE happy.
So what do these assholes do? Out of nowhere, they decide to name us the Marquette GOLD? That's not a name, that's a goddamned color! AND it was the worst thing about our previous name, if we'd just been the Marquette Eagles, I don't think people would have cared as much. It was the Golden part that made us sound prissy and PC. so THAT'S the part they decide to keep???
I hate beaurocrats. HATE THEM! Ruined any hope of my having pride in my school! "Way to go, GOLDS"???? I don't think so! And what kind of freaking mascot are we going to have, a big gold blob?
