Adventures in Wedding Planning

Please feel free to ignore all posts from me in the next year if the bridal theme gets dull.

In the last month, my dear mother has gone a little bit nuts. Between the fact that I am the first person in my generation of the family to get married, meaning it's been at least 25 years since the last big family wedding, and the fact that for the last year my mother has been stuck at Cancer Central with my brother, my mom is absolutely thrilled to plan something happy.

And big. And expensive. Lord, it's getting pricier all the time.

We booked a church. My mother kept calling, confused as to why the priest hadn't promptly replied. He called her a few days later, saying "Well, Sheila, I penciled you in for that date the last time we talked, and once I got your messages I confirmed it, but I haven't had much time to call you. Because, you know, the Pope died." My poor mother was deeply embarrassed and probably gave a little extra in the collection plate on Sunday.

We booked a hall. And a videographer. And a photographer, and just yesterday a DJ. So hopefully, my days of racing back from work to meet all these people and interview them are coming to an end. Now I figure I can sit back and concentrate on the best part: dress shopping!

OOH. and the cake tasting. I think I will have to try many, many different bakers. You know, just to be sure.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
