Oh, brain, why so odd to me?

Nov 12, 2008 07:34

Again, scattered images and lines that appear in my head as I surface from sleep. These may appear in or inform a fic someday, but maybe not. Perhaps one of the talented writers on my flist can do something with them? Cannot brain today; I have the dumb. Consider them a gift from my ball of gray matter to yours. ::pokes brain with stick, jumps back ( Read more... )

Actually, I kinda think of Sam as a water bender. He can be kind and gentle and caring...or he can be really scary and powerful. (Katara, anyone? Did you see the episode where she tortured the guy who killed her mother? Eep!)

Gordon is probably fire or earth. Ellen is earth. John was fire. Mary was earth. I'm not sure about Jo.

Jo could probably work as a Water bender(she doesn't like to stay in one place; she can be nurturing or destructive), and Sam could remain a Fire bender.

Sorry... Avatar is one of my favorite shows. My roommates and I seriously had Avatar watching parties. (Yes, I know that's a little bizarre for college students to do for a cartoon, but it used so many wonderful literary devices...and Zuko was way too pretty to be an animated character.)

See, I think S1 Sam might have been a water bender, more focused on people than his brother, but he's changed so much. And he's always had this core of granite in him. I think he and John are both fire, both willful and controlling and badass when they need to be, though Sam also has some of the cleverness of Iroh. I think that's one reason they clashed so much, while Dean was always in the middle, trying to mediate, yet also very good at working with both of them. (If I remember right, Fire and Earth are traditionally often paired, good with each other, while Fire and Water are opposites and Earth and Air are opposites. Hmm. I should look that up ( ... )

I THINK IT WOULD BE COOL! *waves hand frantically*

For some reason I'm seeing Mary as the water bender. I dunno why. *ponders*

Yeah, water is often seen as a more "feminine" ability, what with the healing and the gentle flowing and all. That's why I would love to have an SPN water bender who was male, just to mix it up. :D But Bobby doesn't quite fit...I think maybe he's Earth, too. Hmmmm.

See, now I'm going to keep thinking about this all day. :D

I (as you may have *noticed*) LOVE fic where Sam gets to embrace his baddassedness. *glee*

SPN/Avatar fic might break my brain, but I love the bending powers so much that I'd probably read it anyway.

And I really wish I were useful at chemistry so that I could take a swing at that first one. Because I know just enough to know that it's an awesome metaphor, but not enough to do it justice.

I think what I REALLY want...is fanart. Sam and Dean in bender outfits. ::eyes go utterly glazed at the thought::

The thing about bases and acids is that they neutralize each other, you know? So you end up with just the right balance. Too much acid is deadly and so is too much base, but perfectly matched, it's pure. ::snuggles the metaphor her brain gave her::
