My eleven- and ten-year-old sisters, C & H, are highly amusing to me lately. Last night I was upstairs hanging out in the living room in the evening using my netbook while they watched TV, and H was very annoyed with the contestants on Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She kept yelling at them, all, "You are so BAD at this game!" and "WHY is he still playing this? He's so BAD."
C, though, takes a much more sympathetic approach, sighing for the poor contestants who are doing so badly. She actually got up at one point to pet the guy's face on the screen, as if in comfort. I tittered and tweeted about them.
Then, just now, I went upstairs and found them playing with several of the Nativity scenes my mom has collected. (We have maybe a dozen.) They had taken the Josephs and baby Jesuses from several sets and were playing with them on the floor. I asked them what they were doing and they looked up at me and C explained, "They're having a contest about which baby is the cutest."
"Who's winning?" I asked.
I didn't really get an answer, though, because then C bobbed the head of the Joseph she was currently holding and said in a deep, gruff voice, "Or maybe we should have a contest about whose wife is the HOTTEST."
And H's Joseph agreed, in a little squeaky voice.
I had to leave then.
