Usual caveat lector: I am pro-pretty-much-everybody. Yes, even him. I especially love Dean. And Sam. And Castiel. And Bobby. And John. And Ellen. And Jo. And Ruby. And Bela. Your picspam made me tear up in ways that watching the episode didn't. It's a lovely picspam and I appreciate your commentary.

A few things brought me hope in this episode. First, the evil that is Lucifer is now evident; no more sympathy for the devil stuff. Also, they've changed the course of the supposed future Dean saw. Perhaps we have the first real evidence that the Winchesters and Castiel aren't closed in by destiny and that destiny in fact does not mean that Lucifer wins. The Colt is now off the table as a viable weapon to kill Lucifer. As repulsive as it may sound, the demons are now on the table as a viable ally against Lucifer (and I wonder if that open pathway will feed a season six, if that happens.) Also, Lucifer doesn't appear to have raised Castiel; I think he would have mentioned it if he did (it would be interesting if it were Michael who raised him, though, but I'll be satisfied with God). I also have hope that the buttons that Lucifer is trying to push in Sam will no longer work, especially given the horror we see in Sam.

An interesting and pivotal episode, even if controversial.
