Okay, so who else was going, "No, Bobby, no, Bobby, no" at the screen during that entire "lose my number" scene? THAT WAS THE SADDEST THING EVER AGH. Sam's face almost killed me there. So yeah, I was hella relieved when Bobby's eyes went black, despite the immediate "NO BOBBY!" (in an entirely different tone).
This is twice now that a father figure has managed to overcome demon possession, just for a moment, in order to save Dean's life. Gah, kid, can't you see how much these men love you?
That must have been the worst experience of Bobby's life, for real. Considering what he's been through and all the precautions he takes, there must be a story behind how it happened, how he got caught. Obviously he was distraught over losing Sam and Dean within hours of each other, you know, distress leaving an opening for demons to exploit, so what did he do, go out for a quick shopping run to the local liquor store, then got ambushed? I WANT BOBBYFIC. Maybe I'll write it. Bobby and my muse have been getting along pretty well lately.
MEG IS BACK. \o/ That actress was teh hotness, so creepy and wrong. And the kiss was totally "EWW, GET OFF HIM." Poor Dean, man, everyone wants him, but not in a good way. (That's why I chose that icon, if you're curious. ;D)
"DO I HAVE A MOLAR IN MY HAIR?" Hahaha, oh poor Chuck. I knew Cas would be back, but that was great. God is getting in the mix, it seems. Not so much left the building after all, huh, Zachy boy? And CASTIEL IS EMPOWERED. Love it love it love it! I was kind of hoping for Castiel as a rebel on the run with my boys, the whole "we'll all be hunted, we'll all be killed," because I think that would be cool. But this is also awesome, how Castiel is very obviously THE ONLY SANE ANGEL IN THE UNIVERSE.
I hope Anna comes back. I really do.
Nick's story was heartbreaking. Those images of blood were truly horrifying, in the best way, the kind of thing that grabs you by the gut and won't let go. And Lucifer, oh, I heard echoes of the snake in the garden. No, he won't "lie," exactly, but he'll leave things out, he'll twist the truth to tell you what he wants you to hear, to manipulate you and use you and turn you from the path.
Dean's defiance was awesome. Just awesome. That's my Dean. Love seeing him come back a bit from the despair and helplessness that plagued him in the last part of S4. He's determined now and he's not giving up.
And he called Cas his FRIEND! EEEEEEE. My squee could be heard two states over, I'm sure. That's what I've wanted for them from the beginning, for them to be friends. I was surprised when Dean's blood worked for the banishing--I thought that was only an angel thing? So it kinda made sense later when it turned out that they wanted Dean for Michael's angel-condom. (HEEEEEEE!)
Zachariah continues to be the smarmiest bastard ever to smarm. Awesome.
Again, the tinhat fan made me extremely uncomfortable. Almost a caricature. C'mon, Kripke, you couldn't show a fan who's obsessed but not creepy about it? Loved the Galaxy Quest shout-out, though. Gave me the warmest fuzzies ever. Justin Long YAY!
The last scene was sad, it really was, but I didn't expect anything different, really. Dean just keeps getting hurt and hurt and let down and hurt again, and there has to be a breaking point somewhere. Of course it was Sam who found it--no one else could have. Now's the time for rebuilding, for finding each other again in the dark. As always, as ever. Maybe things will never be the same, but they can be good again, they can.
I did feel really, REALLY bad for Sam, though. AGH. I love him, I do, and I'm so sorry that he's having to see his idolized big brother turning away from him like that. But he'll just have to man up and accept the consequences of his actions and prove himself to be trustworthy again, and I know he can do it, because Sam is awesome. Glad he doesn't have to go through detox again, anyway. That would suck.
Speaking of, I would also like a missing scene dealing with Dean being put on a PLANE, of all things, to save them from Lucifer. Sheesh. Kind of a weird choice there, God or the higher angels or whoever did that. And a plane that was promptly in distress and shaking around with oxygen masks falling from the ceiling, too. Poor guy.
SO SO excited about the rest of the season. It's going to be beyond awesome.
