I don’t want to be in love. Love is too all-consuming, all-encompassing, smothering, thick, greasy... I want to be in like.
‘Like’ is just this nice, crisp, happy feeling that stays with you after the person’s gone; this refreshing feeling of ‘Wow! I really like you!’ Nothing sappy, nothing weighing you down, just purely this nice, bouncy, upbeat feel of ‘You’re delightful!’ that makes you smile when you’re thinking of them as you walk down the sidewalk. That’s what I want. Nothing gooshy, nothing possessive, nothing sticky. Just that crisp, cool feeling of likey-ness.
