It's amazing how purified you feel after reading good writing. Feeling every word to be true, the exact right word for that place in that sentence. Like Adam somehow getting just the right names for all the animals. It's so soothing, when a writer can sweep you up and carry you away with them so unerringly that you don't need to fill in the blanks anymore or have that tense feeling that ever-so-slightly off writing gives you. Soothing. Like a brain massage. They say music moves us in almost a primal way because of the rhythms -- good writing has a rhythm to it of its own, a rhythm you fall into while reading, but a completely internalised rhythm, working on so many different levels that when you come back up for air, it's like the feeling you get after being in a room full of talented, perfectly in-synch drummers, that cleansed feeling of the world being clearer and more truthful and navigable than before, all of your cells tingling and realigned.
I do love words. The right ones. When they can be found. And the people who can find them.
