The morning commute is usually a half-hour of silence, everyone groggy-eyed and staring blankly out windows or at the feet of the person in front of them

Rikimaru.. Hmm.. Reminds me of a character in a fighting game.. Samurai Showdown? A long time ago, I'm not sure.
Your ion is from.. Eh, I don't know :/ "Here's Greenwood"?
I don't know if "touched by God" was an actual denomination in english, but I know that it was in one of the languages I speak :) I get confused sometimes..
there might be a Rikimaru in Samurai Shodown. I wouldn't be surprised. There's also a Rikimaru in Ninja Scroll, Tenchu: Stealth Assassins, and Suikoden II. I chose my LJ name after all of them. :) The icon is Ninamori Eri, the class rep from FLCL. And now you know!
Aaah, that's the one in Tenchu I was thinking about, although *clickety click* Hmm. There's of course Haohmaru but no sign of a Rikimaru. Must have been the Tenchu one :)
Ah, yes, Suikoden.. Hehe. Are you a fan? I don't claim fandom to any game or game series, but Genso Suikoden is the closest it gets (I own 1-4 and Tactics).
And as far as Fuli Culi... Heeheeehahahahaha! I remember now why I blocked it from my memory :)
I'm somewhat of a fan. I haven't played a Suiko game since 2, but I really loved the first two and regret that I haven't had time (read: been too lazy and poor) to pick up subsequent games....
I have to say I didn't play the third one through. Only about an hour. The concept of .. What.. Several endings, lots of storylines, all that.. Didn't really attract me too much; but the four, I thought, was really good (although getting the 108th character.. Honestly.. I needed help for that one). If you have Suikoden II, it's a rare game and it's worth some money, in case you ever are really in a bind (check it out on Ebay). It's worth too much to me to sell it though :)
$121.01!?! oh my Josh! I don't know that mine and my brother's copy would command such a sum, because there's a scratch on the disk that makes the animated intro all skippy, but still...man! that is good to know! thanks for telling me. that knowledge could come in handy some day. my brother would actually watch the intro every time he turned on the PS2 and played the game. what's more, he kept a running total of how many times he had watched it. just because it was so awesome.
You know what intro movie I absolutely love? Wild Arms, the first one. The other ones weren't nearly as good, (intro or games), but the first game was fantastic and had a great intro movie. I think I have it somewhere on my computer -- that's how awesome it is. And I've had it for several years. :)
I used to whistle that one when I was in college. *sigh* Ah, the good old days. ... Melancholy hitting over a video game, there's something our parents probably wouldn't understand.
I just found the mp3 of the Wild Arms opening on my brother's laptop. I was feeling down, but when I heard it, my blues still stuck around, but they took on a new flavor and they weren't so bad to have anymore. And I felt better. So good...
it's a long story--like three and a half years long. basically a lot of things have happened since I started college and they've not been good for keeping a positive outlook. I went to St. John's for two years until I got sick of philosophy. Last year, I used to worry about whether anything existed or whether maybe everything is One and the material world is just an illusion or whether we have free will or whether consciousness is just a by-product of a particular configuration of the material composing our bodies, like I was still haunted by the ghost of St. John's or something, and while I'm pretty convinced that my worries are unfounded, my blues these days feel a lot like those old blues, like forces beyond my control are making me believe things I don't think are true.
Hmm. I don't know you, but I'd love to discuss that with you. I can even point you to a friend's LJ : sheddingreality. He has these kinds of thoughts all day long, and would most likely enjoy exchanging ideas!
Have you identified what gives you the feeling that there is a force beyond your control which is influencing you adversely? What exactly leads you to believe that you are being deceived?

"a chronic case of brain-farting."
and as Chels points out, your phrase is a much better term for it.
