Snowboarding and mountains and stuffliness

It recently dawned on me just how stressed my life is day to day. Maybe it was the relative calm of being home that enhanced the differences, but now I just feel like I have no time to call my own anymore. That sounds a tad melodramatic because it's not like it's all work and no play is making sensei a dull girl, but my body is reacting in ways to this stress that well, frankly suck.

Anyway, my mate G and I just signed up for a summer's intensive Japanese study at a language school a hundred miles away from home. It's going to be like at uni again and i'm actually quite looking forward to it. People can assume all they like about your language acquisition when in the target language country, but when you don't actively get taught it, there's only so much you can pick up (and a Japanese boyfriend wanting to improve his English doesn't help as much as you'd think).

Tomorrow morning at some ungodly hour, half the ALTs in my town are heading north to the mountains! We're going snowboarding! And we rented this snow-tyred, GPS-enabled bad-ass car to get us there, which we've spent all evening driving around town. I can't believe they rented it out to us; I can't believe 22 makes me a responsible adult - i was practically giggling as i jumped up into the driver's seat.

Yeah so snowboarding should be fun. I did it last year and actually really enjoyed it (and didn't break any bones either). For someone as un-sporty as me and with a terrible sense of balance, I didn't do too badly.

No other news really. I do miss not having the boyf around. He was in Edinburgh the other day and felt bad for not understanding a word anyone said until I pointed out that I, although in theory speaking the same language as the Scots, don't understand them much either. We spoke for half hour on the phone (mobile to mobile across the planet) the other day... isn't 3G fantastic?

Oh, almost forgot. I'm heading back Europe way for the two weeks before Easter. I just didn't have enough time at home before and I think I owe it to rebuilding a good relationship with my family and friends. So I'll be back in Cambers on March 25th ish until April 3rd when I go to France with my family.

fun
