Just having the first cuppa of the day and greasing my gears. My world is covered in rime this morning, looking sweetly sugar-glazed. The sky is becoming lighter in spots as the marine mist shffles from over the water, inland. The dolphin on the fountain has a lovely white head. Must look for the pic of the fountain...I'll get back to that
Had a wonderfully quiet Thanksgiving yesterday. My daughter and I made some cranberry bread in the morning and we watched Macy's Parade...well, my husband mostly watched it and we dipped in and out. He always gets a little homesick, being a New Yawk boy, when he watches. Seemed the weather was just as beautiful there as it was here.
My husband cooked a wonderful dinner and we set a "table" with a piece of plexi-glass on my daughter's bed, so that she could be comfortable. She really is doing so much better (our biggest thankfullness this year) with her treatment for Lyme...but a few days ago she was sitting on the edge of my bed (a pillow-top) and, in reaching for something, with her leg tucked under her, she slid right off and landed hard on her butt. For a healthy person this wouldn't be much...a little bruising, mostly of the pride....but for Willo with Lyme arthritis in her spine and hips, it means a lot of pain and difficulty walking for days. Back to the thank-fullness though, the last eighteen months of treatment have made such a difference in our lives. Just two years ago, her Lyme (the Great Imitator) was presenting like M.S. and, on some days, the only part of her body that she could move was her eyelids. That alternated with bouts of screaming nerve pain that would have have her writhing in agony on the bed. All my husband and I could do was station ourselves so that she couldn't throw herself off...and wait for the drugs to help calm things. You can just imagine how thankful we are as those memories stand back, like an old nightmare.
My son called (he still lives in NY) all stuffed and sleepy, to give his love. He just got a new job...with a Canadian company! He's a Canadian citizen and a registered alien down here...seriously...that's what we're called! I keep feeling for my antennae. He'll be bopping up to Ontario for a few days of training and then repping for the company in NY, NJ, and Conn. Should be making enough money to take care of his mum in her old age! I'm proud of his skills; proud of his deep-thinking and kindness. I'm thankful he seems to have found "the one" to share his life with...and she emails pictures!!
It's mostly a resting day, though I do hope to get into the studio for a little recording work this afternoon. Tomorrow is a big day. I'm facilitating the wedding of a couple who are like my own kids...and I really should stop calling them all kids!
