I almost caused an accident, on the way to work this morning. It would have all been to avoid a mama duck and her never ending little parade of baby ducks, as they crossed the highwayI would have gladly put my car in the ditch, at 70mph, rather than take out just one little duckling. All I could think about was how devastated the mother and other ( Read more... )

If you're insane then I am too. The day I saved a little bug from the pool, now everyday I see a little bug floating in the pool I try to save it because I feel bad for it and don't want it to suffer or their little bug family to miss it.

But I started writing this entry a while ago then ended up making it private because I felt like a creep after I had typed it all out. Hah but I think you might enjoy it :) Just some facts about how deep animals emotions and feelings can really go

There's this show I love called NOVA. It's on PBS and it's always about something different. I suppose you could consider it to be one of those educational shows, but whatever. I like it most when they do an episode about a type of animal. Tonight I watched it and it was about dolphins and killer whales(which are actually porpuses too). Anyways, they were saying how killer whales live in Pods, that are their families. They stay together for as long as they live which is usually around 50-70 years. They help eachother out and take care of eachother.

They mentioned something about killer whales that get captured, like Free Willy. It made me sad, it's almost like if a child got taken away rorm their parents and never returned. Those poor animals must get so sad.

The other night I saw one about animals and depression. It talked about wolves who live in packs and stay together throughout their whole lives as well. Meer cats were on that episode too and it was showing them hunfting and traveling together. I guess one of the little Meer cats got attacked and she was going to die. Instead of leaving her and going to safety, her family stayed with her and comforted her for hours until she passed. It was really cute, they would rest their heads on hers kind of like humans do to eachother. I just thought it was interesting how caring they were and how they refused to let her die alone.

There was a small segment on dogs as well. They talked about the dogs who helped to find the bodies in NY after 9/11. After coming back day after day finding only dead bodies, the dogs became very depressed. The owner people would do this thing where they'ed hide a live person so that the dogs could find at least someone alive and it would help them to be happier.

When I read that bug post you made, I thought, "Hey, that's something I would do!!" :)

The part about the meer cat made me sad. *sniff, sniff* And I heard that about the 9/11 rescue dogs. I saw something on that as well, and they said that they would actually "plant" live people for the dogs to find, so they wouldn't get so depressed. Amazing, isn't it?
