So on Monday the Orthopedist cleared me to begin exercise and physical therapy. HOORAY!
I went to practice and did footwork and some REALLY LIGHT target practice, but as soon as I tried to accelerate my arm more, it hurt, and i stopped.
The physical therapist said I am a 3+ out of 5 in terms of strength and my flexibility was better than she thought it would be. But she still only gave me a 75% chance of being ready for a tournament in December. I was like "I HAVE TO BE READY"!! I"M USED TO WORKING OUT 6X PER WEEK, I WILL WORK HARD!!" I think she thought I was a little psycho, but she got the point.
The funniest thing I have to do? THE ARM BIKE. HA! Have you ever seen it? It looks like a mixer! It's so stupid. But useful. Plus a lot of stretches and then a little lifting on machines with VERY low weights on them. I have to swallow my pride when I do these in the gym and I feel like screaming. I HAVE A FRACTURED COLLARBONE OKAY!? To the beefy guys around me grunting and sweating. ITS NOT JUST THAT I"M SOME WEAK GIRL!!!
But the best thing of all? I can RUN AGAIN! I was really missing it. I have run 4x already (not far, but fast because it feels pretty euphoric) since Monday. I can definitely tell that I'm in waaaaaay worse shape then I was before the accident, which makes sense because I was moments away from doing a triathlon and now I've been sitting on my arse a lot.
Still, I'm sooooooooo happy to feel like I'm on the road to recovery.
