Back in 2004, I sent my sister Tara an OT DVD set. It wasn't really for her; it was for my nephew, who at the time was too young to see the movies...but I wanted them to be available if he decided to watch them.
And by gum, he did! I wouldn't doubt that the Clone Wars cartoons were what got him interested; he is now eight years old, and the CW cartoons are apparently the talk of the school he attends. Anyway...he watched the OT with Tara, and had all kinds of questions: "What planet is that? Who is that? What is that?" Tara answered, "I have no idea. Talk to Aunt Shelley, she loves 'Star Wars'."
Tara saw each of the OT movies once, maybe twice, upon their initial theatrical release. She is not a SW fan; she now thinks the movies are "cheesy." And no one else in my family particularly cares for SW either...but now I have an ally in my very smart nephew! Not only that, but he hasn't seen the prequels but is very curious about Anakin Skywalker and General Grievous and whatnot, so the PT DVD set is the perfect gift to give him for Christmas, as Tara suggested! We very well may have a saga fan on our hands! Plus, he doesn't know, or care, if Han shot first!!!!
