Slowly getting settled into the new place and liking it so far. I definitely need to start inviting people over because it gets pretty lonely here, but I'm at least staying busy. Still not finished unpacking, but I haven't really been working on it either. ;)
I managed to move the motorcycle and the Conquest into the shop. I have to say, riding a motorcycle in blue jeans on a below freezing day is... exhilarating? Cold, certainly.
In the meantime I got commissioned by a friend of mine to make a few stainless steel rings for him. Every year he makes a ring for his girl friend and laser engraves them, but this year he didn't have access to a lathe. I bought some 316 stainless rod and machined it into three rings, .030" thick wall and a .2" wide band. I'll have to mail them off to him tomorrow. Sadly he won't have them ready for christmas, but I told him because of the move and how long it'd take to get the material that this weekend was the soonest I'd have them ready.
The results seriously make me considering making a few for myself, although I did get a fourth ring out of the batch that was a narrower width band. Trouble is I have no reason to wear it. Just has no meaning to me. Although the thought of attempting to impart some sort of meaning/energy has crossed my mind. I've just never tried it before.
