Today was... incredibly slow. Most of the weekend was a hustle of working on cars. Saturday a friend pulled in his 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis and we performed a valve body modification to the transmission to firm up the shifts. We also fixed a new stereo he installed in it that didn't want to load CD's properly. Turns out it doesn't like being mounted at an angle and was screwing up the CD mechanism. Sunday I woke up in pain as my shoulders were protesting the previous days work. Holding your hands above your head for a few hours will do that. I worked on the Jeep, reinstalling the rear wiper motor I failed to bring back to life, removed the auxiliary lights from the front and the hack job wiring it had, and "fixed" the front axle actuator.
Today I mostly fucked around. Met up with a local furry who had responded to an ad I put up on pounced.org. No, not an ad for dating, just to see if there are any furries out there. :P The guy is a text message whore, but face to face I like him. Definitely a gearhead like myself, although he likes more to play than to wrench. Also a fellow husky, but doesn't know a thing about therianthropy. May be better that way, truth be told. Either way, I like him. Definitely need to hang out when we get the chance.
After sitting around at home for a few hours I finally got bored enough to try to clean some of my room. I had a pile of crap that hadn't been touched in... 3-4 years. Sorting through it I found numerous old notes I had written, actually dredging up some history of Crossroads and some contact information of users I haven't seen since then. But what really caught my eye was the packet I received for placing second at the 2004 VICA Nationals for Precision Machining. Inside was several letters of congratulations and also some photos from when I was there. Keep in mind, this was back when I was a senior in high school. Also, the red suit was standard VICA professional attire. :P
Working my ass off on the grinding table.
Most interestingly was a letter from a company located in Monument, Colorado, saying they were in need for CNC Automation programmers/engineers. I know they no longer have these openings, but I think I'm going to copy the letter, fill out the application, and mail it in. If I'm lucky, the two individuals who sent the letter still work there and it'll catch their eye. The drive from Aurora would be about 40-50 minutes, but it's no longer than driving to Golden, Co, everyday. :P Granted, 80-100 miles of commuting everyday will quickly rack up miles, but if they pay well enough... I can live with that.
