Colorado Trip Report

I left my heart in Colorado, I fear. :P

The trip went great! I left for Colorado Tuesday morning and showed up in the afternoon in time to help Strill and Timber move into their new apartment. Thankfully they didn't have a whole lot to move, but it was a 2nd story apartment and couches were involved. The love seat made it through the door, but the 3 person couch had to be hefted from the bed of a pickup truck onto the porch. :P

It wasn't long before I was involved in watching Repo! The Genetic Opera. At first I didn't quite see the appeal, although I'll admit I thought the soundtrack was catchy. Then I got to watch the group do a shadowcast. Combined with hearing the song randomly sung for the entire week I think I'm hooked. There is no hope! I am lost! >.>

The rest of the week as pretty straight forward. Just moving bits and pieces to the new apartment and hanging out. I also got to play Rockband for the very first time. I will admit, playing on a drumset does naturally port down to the Rockband set. The trick is just recognizing how to play rhythms as they are displayed on the screen.

Fast forward to Friday and we were on our way to the Rocky Mountain Fur Convention. The first furry convention I've attended. The first day was somewhat slow as people trickled in. It was mostly waiting in line for registration and helping getting things setup in the dealer room. Granted, by the time I was out of registration there wasn't much for me to help with. :P

Saturday was better with more people in attendance. Most of the time I just hanged out in the dealer room with Strill, Laken, Timber, Nev, Darcy, Veridian, Max, etc etc. x.x Lots of people! I managed to attend a couple of panels. One being fursuiting on the budget which did give me a few ideas. I'm not sure if I'd ever build a full suit, but the frame work for a head has my interest. We also attended "Purry Pictionary" in which the room was divided between non-canides and canides. We canides got our asses handed to us. Granted, it was all furry trivia which I know nothing about and I would like to point out that the non-canides had mostly canide artists. Eat it, Bird! ;) Laken, Strill, Timber, and myself also did a Rockband competition. Laken rocked the bass while wearing her fursuit to gain us some extra points. Ultimately we won second place and scored some Kiss action figures that I have no idea what to do with.

Sunday was a good wrap up with just relaxing in the dealers den and ultimately packing up and heading out in the early afternoon. Cut to today and it was just a matter of charging the A/C in Strill's car and heading home. I managed to make the trip in a short 6.5 hours which even included a sit down stop for dinner. I managed to make the drive a little less boring by reading a book I had bought while at the con. With as straight as I-70 was, I managed to knock off about 60-100 pages without problems. >.>

All in all, the trip was awesome! I'm vowing to myself to move to Colorado, it's just that good. I would like to thank Strill and Timber for providing a place to sleep outside the con and showing me a good time. A shout out to Laken, TJ, Nev, Max (Coyote Face), Salem, Darcy, Blue, Rizzy, Veridian and everyone else I got to meet and hang out with because, in all honesty, you all were just awesome. :>

And now, it is bed time. Night folks!
