The Conquest, it lives! Busted ass all weekend and managed to drive it this afternoon. It was a little odd at first because the car was taking forever to build boost and was just slower than shit. "The intercooler couldn't have caused this..." I thought to myself. And as I thought more and more, I began to wonder if I had removed all the paper towels I had stuffed into the intake piping to keep dirt out while I worked on the car. After yanking a couple pipes, I found a blue shop towel split across a dividing plate in the throttle body, looking as though it had encountered gale force winds. "Oops."
After that, it ran great! *big stupid grin* I can't wait to turn up the boost because so far it is loads better than it was before.
Unfortunately it's not quite done. I need to rebleed the brakes because I forgot to top off the master cylinder before putting everything together. Needless to say, they don't work right. The new steering wheel needs to be rotated back to center as it is a spline off. I need to go over the hoses and wiring to check for any chaffing points. Replace the CV shafts because the car still vibrates at highway speed and turning the rotors had no effect. Then clean, polish, and wax the living shit out of the car.
Oh, and I have to leave for Branson Wednesday afternoon. I need a nap.
