Summary: Yuuto has a new hobby, which is taking pictures of insects. But he thought it seemed harder than it looks! So, Yamada decides to surprise Yuuto with a present.
Disclaimer: I own the plot, because it's true. :D
"So then, I told my teacher that I like insects, and don't mind trying to take pictures of them," Yuuto explained as he walked to work with Yamada beside him. They were still in their uniform, as they had just got out of school. "Oh, then the teacher lent you the school camera?" Yamada looked at the taller boy, glancing at the camera in his hands. "Yeah. She told me to take pictures of live insects, and then write something relating to them." Yuuto looked down at the camera, examining it, carefully not to press any unneccessary buttons. Yuuto stopped, and when Yamada realised Yuuto had stopped, he was already two metres ahead of the younger boy.
"Yamada, mite mite!" Yuuto called out, adjusting the camera and aiming it perfectly at Yamada. The chubby member stopped and turned his body, and looked at Yuuto.
CLICK! Yamada watched as Yuuto lowered the camera down, and smiled at the screen. "Uwaah.. Yamada looks so kakkoi here." Yuuto smiled at Yamada, and quickly ran forward, before starting his walk back with Yamada. "Maybe because Yuuto is a good photographer, ne?" Yamada flashed his infamous smile at his bestfriend, who simply returned the smile.
"Iya! I don't think so! I think Yamada just looks kakkoi in every picture!"
"But Yuuto looks kakkoi in pictures too."
"But not as kakkoi as Yamada."
"Well, let's just agree on both of them instead, ne?" Both friends laughed together before Yuuto stopped laughing when they had just passed the park. His eyes were fixed on the park as they walked by it, and soon Yamada looked at the other boy, wondering why Yuuto was quiet for a moment.
"Let's go look for insects!" Yuuto's eyes shone as he looked at Yamada, and before he could respond to Yuuto's comment, Yuuto had grabbed the shorter member's arm, and pulled him towards the park. Once they were in, Yuuto let go of Yamada's arm, and slowly sneaked up to a bush with the camera fixed in his hands.
"Yuuto."
"Shhh! I think I see one here!" Yuuto looked into the bush, and looked around, searching for insects which seemed to be gone. Yamada scratched the back of his head, as he noticed the odd looks the pair got from other people. He had to agree with them, it's not often you find a pair of good looking middle school students with their heads in a bush, and yet, when they look suspiciously like famous idols.
"Yuuto."
Yuuto shushed Yamada once more, and this time he was on the ground, crawling into a patch of grass. Yamada let out a small sigh. He got on the ground, and crawled beside Yuuto. "Yuuto."
"What is it?" Yuuto fixed his camera pointing at what seemed to be a rock. Yamada stared at the rock, having the urge to tell Yuuto that it was just a rock, but decided that he'd have to get to the point first.
"We're going to be late for work."
"Just a bit more." Yuuto zoomed in with the camera and noticed it was a rock, before removing his eye from the camera and looking up, eyeing an insect on the tree. "FOUND ONE!" Yamada shushed Yuuto to keep it down, and Yuuto just shushed with him. Yuuto got up on his feet, and quickly pulled Yamada up with him. He positioned his camera to take a picture of the insect on the tree, but saw that it was gone.
"Darn. I can't find any insects at all!" Yuuto had a slightly disappointed look. Yamada looked at Yuuto's expression before looking up his head to find the insect clinging onto a few strands of Yuuto's hair. He wondered if he should tell the taller boy, but decided not to. But the sight of it makes Yamada want to take it off Yuuto's head, and when he did place his hand on Yuuto's head, the taller boy just looked at Yamada, before smiling. "You do know that patting me doesn't really comfort me? It works on Chinen, or Takaki. Or even Ryutaro." Yuuto flashed a grin at Yamada, who just wondered about what Yuuto meant, and carefully took the insect from Yuuto's head.
Yuuto quickly ran off before Yamada was done putting back the insect on the tree, and he had to run after Yuuto. He stopped when Yuuto was up close to another tree trying to take a photo of a butterfly with beautiful shades of blue that had these circle pattern that made it look like it has eyes on its wings. Yuuto struggled to take a photo when he noticed his camera was off, and upon clicking the on button once more, the camera made sounds of preparing to take a photo, such that it was adjusting the lens. Yuuto removed his eye from the camera, and looked at it for a mere second before realising that the butterfly had flown away.
"Huh! Wait up, butterfly! I NEED TO TAKE A PHOTO OF YOOOOOOU!!" Yuuto ran after it, but stopped when the butterfly was high out of reach. He watched as the butterfly caught in the wind, and its speed was faster.. or probably got blown off the wind. Yuuto couldn't tell. Yamada watched as Yuuto's shoulders dropped in disappointment. He couldn't help but feel saddened by this. "Let's go." Yuuto turned to Yamada with a slight smile. "What about your assignment?" Yamada asked. "Well, it's harder than it looks. I can try again tomorrow. We're going to be late for work."
Yamada could sense that Yuuto's mood had went down greatly, and that he tried to hide it. But knowing how he is, Yamada thought it'd be a great idea to leave it for now.
----------------------------------
Yamada watched an energetic Yuuto trying to catch butterflies, and insects which all are frightened of him.
"I don't bite!" Yuuto exclaimed out loud in the open air. He didn't care, or even realise if anyone looked at him weirdly. "Well.. except for food.. BUT THAT'S A DIFFERENT THING!" He shouted out to all the insects in the park. Yamada wondered if Yuuto was in his right mind, but thought he wasn't. He had suspected Yuuto to be out the whole morning trying to catch insects since he didn't get any calls or texts from the younger boy, so Yamada decided to check out the park. And there he finds Yuuto on his assignment alone. Yamada couldn't help but feel slightly upset that Yuuto didn't invite him along, or asked for his help, but shrugged it off, knowing that probably he was no use to Yuuto's Insect Hunt.
Yamada's attention was soon driven away from Yuuto when the same butterfly from before flew past his face and landing nearby him on the tree which he was hiding behind. "Huh? Why are you here?" He asked the butterfly, slowly reaching out to it and poked its wing. Strangely, the butterfly didn't fly away. "You're not scared of me, are you?" He scooped it up into his hands before realising another butterfly, but this time in a shade of yellow and black, flying around his head, and landing on a few strands of his bangs. "Wow, I feel as if I'm a 'butterfy-person'." Yamada laughed to himself with the idea of having butterflies following him. He looked down at the butterfly, and then turned his head to find Yuuto sticking his head into a bush once more. "Hmm.."
----------------------------------
Yuuto rested on a patch of green grass of the park, with his eyes closed. The sunlight was torturing him and he quickly turned his head and opened his eyes. He noticed almost everyone was staring at him weirdly, or with a worried look as if he had just fainted. "Oh!" He sat up quickly, and picked up his camera. "I can't be resting now!" He got up to his feet with the camera up in the air. "Time for Yuuto's Insect Hunt!"
He tried looking for more insects, but unfortunately, he never caught any. Until he noticed a familiar face passing by the park gate, but not neccessarily in the park. "Yama-chan!" Yuuto then noticed a butterfly trailing behind Yamada, and quickly ran out. When he was outside, he noticed that he had already missed Yamada, but the butterfly had remained nearby. He followed it inside. It flew back into the park, and he followed. It flew in curves and circles, but Yuuto was ready to take its photo. When it landed somewhere, he was about to press the button when he noticed that it had landed on something. It was a white shoe box with holes in it, with 'YUUTO' written on top of it with a marker.
"Huh?" The butterfly flew away, but Yuuto was more interested in what's inside the box. He carefully lifted the top up, but soon his eyes widened with a smile on his face. He watched as a yellow and black butterfly flew out of it, and along with the blue butterfly, it flew together in pairs as if they were dancing or knew each other. It just stayed in the air, flying slowly but still together as if they were conversing to each other. Yuuto quickly took a few snapshots of the two butterfly, and soon enough stopped when he knew he had enough of it, and watched them fly away.
A happy smile formed at Yuuto's face. He was glad to be able to take a picture of insects finally. But he knew one thing for sure he was mostly glad about, is to have a bestfriend like Yamada. He looked at the box once more, and his smile widened.
----------------------------------
Yamada thought it was odd that Yuuto had quickly went off from school. When he asked the taller member, Yuuto simply said that he had an assignment he still needed to finish. Yamada wondered if Yuuto had actually caught hold of the box he had left out for Yuuto. Seeing Yuuto, perhaps not. They didn't exactly have work that day, so Yamada can go home straight away. On his journey home, Yamada wondered about the butterflies, and thought he should check out on them. He looked back to find the black and yellow one trailing behind him, and wondered what happened to the blue one.
Yamada greeted his mom who greeted back when he arrived home. He was beginning to get used to butterflies following him, especially the two butterflies. The moment he opened the door to his room, the butterfly flew past his face once more and landed on a familiar looking box on the table. "Wait.. I don't remember bringing it home.. Oh.. maybe I was dreaming when I put it in the park." Yamada went in and closed the door, before putting his bag on his bed. He looked at the box. 'YUUTO' was still on it. "I hope the butterfly is okay." Yamada slowly and carefully took the top off to find the blue butterfly flying out from the box, and flying with the other butterfly once more.
His eyes widened when he noticed another small box in the shoe box, with the words, 'RYOUSUKE' on the top. He lifted it up carefully out of the shoe box and placed it on his table. "What's this?" He carefully opened the box to find a strawberry shortcake in it. His mouth drooled when he smelled the cake, making his mind melt. He noticed a small piece of paper tucked under the cake board, and slowly took it out, and read it carefully.
"Yama-chan,
if I was the black and yellow butterfly, then you're the blue one. :)
I hope you enjoy the cake, to celebrate our current obsessions.
And lastly,
Thanks for being my bestfriend."
