I really need to talk about General Conference...

...But I'm still gathering my thoughts. And I'm not sure if it will be something I address in the podcast or just on the Blog. Either way, my heart is completely broken over how this denomination (the United Methodist Church) has been completely destroyed from within. This has been going on for years. If you have ever seen someone battling cancer, who finally loses their fight, that's what we've witnessed in the past two weeks in Charlotte, NC. And I'm sitting here in a hotel room in Charlotte, doing some training work for Amazon, and just grieving the loss of a beloved friend. I am still a UMC pastor, and the two congregations I serve are still in the UMC. The gospel of Jesus Christ is still being preached from the Bible. And that will remain so until something cataclysmic happens to change it. But I will not bow to the tides of social sensibilities; I will stand on the solid rock of the authority of scripture.

When I do fully address the General Conference and its fallout, I will be looking at each and every action the GC has put forth into legislation and much of what I witnessed during the proceedings. What happened over the last two weeks in Charlotte was tragic, and it in no way glorified God. It sought to hobble God and exalt Man. But be not deceived, God is not mocked. He is still on the throne and whatever stress and sorrow I feel right now he is not feeling. I need to remember that as I collect my thoughts.

Remember me, O my God, for good. (Nehemiah 13:31)
