Almighty God our Father in heaven, humbly we approach your altar this day, knowing fully well we do not deserve to approach your throne of grace, but that by your Son Jesus Christ our debt has been paid and we may come to you clothed in His righteousness, not of our own merit but by your grace. Long before any of us was born, you knew us and called us unto yourself. We have heard your voice, and we have responded, and we lay our lives down for you, as you have laid down your life for us at the cross of Jesus Christ. Fill us with your Spirit, draw us together so that we, your church, may be your presence in this community and in the world, that others may come to saving knowledge of your love for us in Jesus Christ, that your name would be glorified, that you would receive honor and praise and glory, for you are worthy to be praised.
Father, humbly we approach your throne to lay our prayers at your feet. You know the cry of our heart even before these words pass our lips. You know the ones we lift up to you and their needs, more intimately than we do. We ask for healing, physical, emotional, and spiritual. We ask for comfort for those who are grieving. We ask for grace for those who have strayed and for those who have not known you. We ask for wisdom and strength in situations beyond our control. And we ask for your peace which passes all understanding in these chaotic times. This plague that is upon us, we ask that you would use to draw people to you. We have been wandering far from you and we needed a wakeup call. We have been unable to meet in your church buildings and that makes us long for you and for each other. We pray for revival in the land, that your church would be awakened and moved to greater service and witness. In all things, Lord, be glorified. All this we pray in the mighty and majestic name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who taught us to pray saying together,
Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
