Post Before Departure!

May 30, 2007 00:31

Wokays, just thought of making a blogpost on LJ before I head off to Penang tomorrow morning. =D FYI, I'll be MIA from PJ/KL from Wednesday till this Friday to visit my relatives in Penang and fatten myself with some good Penang hawker food ahahaha so if you have something really important to tell me etc just text me okay? You know the number. =D

I suddenly had the urge to profess my love for two Spring-released anime of 2007 that have got me glued to my computer screen. You won't be seeing these kinda 'reviews' from me appearing in OtakuZone so I might as well just post it on my LJ. *snicker* After all, DOWNLOADING ANIME ONLINE IS ILLEGAL! DON'T DO IT KIDDOES! LOL. I present to you...

Those who have met up with me recently should know that I love Darker Than Black. It's simple really. When there's really fluid animation drawn in a style that I fancy with a rather solid storyline, you can count me into the fandumbdom. Now that I've gotten to episode 7 I am truly, madly, deeply in love with the characters...Especially that really hilarious detective which rekindles my love for Phoenix Wright games. (TTATT) DETECTIVE GUMSHOEEEEE *cough* The music keeps getting better and better (to me at least, but then again, Yoko Kanno's jazzy tunes do fit detective stories very well 8D) and the storyline reminds me very much of Heroes, so it gets extra plus points there. It really saddens me that the anime will ends at episode 13, but honestly, I'd rather have high quality animation with a short and compact story that ties up all its loose ends nicely than one that spans up to 100+ episodes (you know, those shonen titles...I'm saddened by the deplorable state the Eyeshield 21 anime has become). Plus, good original storylines in anime are rather rare nowadays. I think I really got to pick up Cowboy Bebop one of these days...and I still can't get over Samurai Champloo AAAAAAAARGH. /OOT

As for Dennou Coil, it's like I wrote in my short blurb for it in OZ's Spring anime feature: a Hayao Miyazaki feature film with an extended storyline and Matrix elements thrown into the mix. I LOVE the setting of the show: a mix of traditional Japanese elements and modern day gadgetry with an alternate digital realm which can only be seen through special Dennou Megane (Computer Glasses?). So far I've only gotten episode 1 and 2 by Ureshii fansubs but I'm already hooked. While episode 1 introduces us to the basic rules and settings of the world the main characters live in, episode 2 plunges viewers headfirst into the mysteries surrounding this alternate universe. However, the thing that REALLY made me snicker in episode 2 was...a grandma shooting laser beams out of her forehead while showing the peace sign. That really took the cake. As for the reason why...it's waaaay to complicated to explain here, so I'd advice you to just download the anime and watch it for yourselves. DAMMIT I FEEL THE URGE TO DRAW FANARTS OF THAT AWESOME OBASAN...If there is an official animation book for Dennou Coil at a reasonable price after the anime ends, I'll definitely buy it.

Okay..that review was longer than expected but I did enjoy typing it out. >D Oh yeah, PS2 gamers who live in the PJ and KL vincinity: Have you seen ODIN'S SPHERE in those pirated videogame shops yet? I just went on a screencap spree today and found myself drooling over the artwork...delayed reaction I know, but I never see the point of spoiling myself silly about a game and getting hyped up before its release when I can't play it yet well, except for KH-series games...and Subarashiki Kono Sekai 8DDD!!! (Frustration kills!) slay_x, if you see it, can you please get me a copy? Thanks in advance! (Gyahaha, it seems like you're becoming my gaming sugar daddy XP)

futomimii, I've gotten to episode 5 of Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou and whoaaaaah, I'm starting to like this game more and more. The whole setting of 17th century feudal Japan finally hit me in the head with a sucker punch and left me breathless. But like piratelicker so aptly put it before: 'BUT IT FEELS SO GOOD!" 8DDD Is there a DS:KR artbook around? MMMM *thinking of getting it* And slay_x, the 'Victor' in this game is crack. Serious crack. You @ your brother should play it if you haven't! Mad scientists FTW!

That's it till I return, adieu!

EDIT: A present for Heroes fans! HEROES X X-MEN = THIS.
