I guess it's kind of an open secret that I'm in Japan at the moment. I didn't really tell many people about it at first just in case plans went awry and such, and now that I'm already here, it's all good!
I've been on Shikoku island for the last 5 days, and every bit of time spent here is amazing, with surprises (good and bad) at every corner. The natural beauty of the greenery on the mountains and the vast expanse of the Pacific ocean just takes my breath away...though it does get repetitive after a while since me and my friend have been driving for hours on end. Still, I love it!
I've somehow managed to scrape by with my anime-influenced Japanese and reading of Chinese characters on signboards so I'm a little proud in a way, haha. Not many people speak English out here since this is one of the less popular tourist destination, which I think is a huge waste. As I've mentioned above, the natural beauty is great and the people are really nice and friendly (except maybe those around the cities around the island). Sadly, even locals don't visit this island often as most of the people I've seen visiting the pilgrimage temples are mostly those of the older generation. =\
The convenience stores here are damn impressive! They have almost everything I can dream of, even fireworks! The adult section is pretty dodgy though many peple just flip through it openly (including myself LOL). Just now I wanted to buy a Jump compilation to comemorate my stay in Japan but the Family Mart here seems to have sold out, darn! I ended up having dinner there instead, amounting to about 600 yen. 8(
Oh yes, and so far I've managed to find two Ghibli Stores here, which is very VERY surprising to me. I promised myself that I would get a Totoro plushie for myself if I happen to stumble onto a third store when I visit Osaka, so here's to keeping my fingers crossed and the purse strings tight, LOL.
I would elaborate more on my onsen bath experience but I still have 5 days' worth of laundry to do and the day's accounts to settle so I guess that'llhave to wait. Also feeling a bit weary from driving almost the whole day to visit some temples and all the way to Iya Valley...and I'm starting to grow attached to our rental car (I want to name it Apple-kun) so much so that I almost bought a bobble head doll as an accessory for it. Oh dear, I've been infected with the naming virus...
Okay, that's all for now. Till next time, sayonara!
P/S* These Japanese keyboards really take getting used to but I'm getting the hang of it already...somehow. (OwO)
