It's a crime to watch it and not write a review for it, no matter how short.
- I admit that the new Trek makes it really, really accessible for new peeps (like me) to join in the fandom but it has also somewhat dumbed down a franchise I originally thought had loads of backstory/history. Maybe the writers thought that the only way they can fit the essence of Star Trek (without the inclusion of too much technical jargon only a diehard fan will understand) into a 2 hour+ movie was to hit the reboot button. I'm kind of fine with that, though I must say I'm more interested on the events occuring in the universe the old Spock is from.
- The 'I have been emotionally compromised' scene should not be accompanied by cheesy Bollywood ringtone music. EVER. (More on this when
dmjewelle posts up her movie desecration hour thingy.
- I think that the movie's saving grace was the awesome soundtrack and good acting by the new cast.
- I still can't get used to the Spock/Uhura relationship.
- Simon Pegg is so awesome that his name appears first in the actor credits before Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto haha!
-
ezelthecheezel went 'Wha- Eric bana was in the movie?' and I can't blame him. I couldn't recognise him either until the credits after watching it for the first time.
Oh yes, I did a 'Which Star Trek character are you?' Quiz (typical, I know) and I was pleasantly surprised with my results, especially when I wasn't rigging the answers to get a specific character LOL. I AM HONOURED.
