Katrina's aunt and I are writing a children's book about her son, Wolf.
I'm gonna take a term off to work on it.
Heres the text:
Notes: Wolf has a stuffed animal duck. The duck can seem alive or almost alive.
2 pages (Wolf dreams...)
3 and 4 "Hey Sweetie, time to wake up and go to school."
"All right. I'll wake up... But I am NOT going to school!"
(Wolf yawns and stretches arms over his head, the duck next to him).
5 and 6 "Come on honeybunch, you need to get out of bed now."
"All right, I'll get out of bed... but I am NOT going to school!"
(Wolf toddles down the hall with his blanket wrapped around him and his stuffed duck in his arm).
7 and 8 "Here you go, now, eat your breakfast."
"All right, I'll eat my breakfast... but I am NOT going to school!"
(Wolf sits at the table, blanket wrapped over his head and body, so you barely see his face as he stares glumly at the soft boiled egg in an egg cup. The duck sits on the table next to his plate and stares in horror at the egg).
9 and 10 "Okay now, you've got to brush your teeth."
"Alright, I'll brush my teeth... but I am NOT going to school!"
(Wolf stands on a footstool in his pajamas, leaning over the sink, tooth brush in hand, looking at his smile in the mirror -- one or two teeth missing).
11 and 12 "Don't forget to go to the bathroom..."
"All right. I'll go to the bathroom... but I am NOT going to go to school!"
(Wolf is on the toilet, kicking his feet in the air, arms crossed defiantly over his chest. Or he is standing in front of the toilet, pants still up, hands on hips, looking down at the toilet).
13 and 14 "Make sure you brush your hair..."
"All right, I'll brush my hair... but I am NOT going to school!"
15 and 16 "And now you need to get dressed."
"Alright, I'll get dressed, but I am NOT going to school!"
17 and 18 "Here are your shoes and socks."
"All right, I'll put on my shoes and socks... but I am NOT going to school!"
19 and 20 "Where is your backpack?... oh here it is!"
"All right, I'll carry my backpack... but I am NOT going to school!"
(Have someone, Wolf or the mother, put the duck in the backpack).
21 and 22 "Hurry, hurry, we need to get to the bus stop!"
"All right, I'll go to the bus stop... but I am NOT going to school!"
(Wolf at bus stop, arms crossed defiantly over his chest, his duck peeks out of the backpack).
23 and 24 "Look! The bus is here! Time to go in and find your seat."
"All right, I'll get on the bus... but I am NOT going to school!"
(Wolf stands in the doorway of the bus looking in at all the kids and the bus driver, a welcoming black lady. Some of the kids look excited, some happy, some bored, some unhappy. Include yourself, Katrina and Nigel as kids inviting Wolf in).
25 and 26 Only a picture -- Wolf is getting off the bus in front of his school, a small one-room schoolhouse with a playground and a lot of interesting looking activity and people.
