... I think I finally nailed what was knocking me off the net constantly. essentially i was always using the wrong device for my phat ADSL2 pipe... just very lucky that it hadn't collapsed under the load until now.

Sorry to all the people who've been getting those gawd-awful "Message cannot be sent because a connection error occured" messages or just an endless cycle of login/logoff. Especially alexei_buecmpc (public post = pseudonyms :P). I should have just fixed it the first time it started dropping out instead of an endless cycle of "wait for net to fail; unplug everything; plug in; repeat".
