Vacation starts....now!
Yay! Off for two weeks (and a day)! Nothing major planned - Jennifer's coming up for a bit and I'll be going down to San Diego for awhile, that's it. I foresee lots of sleeping and reading. I also got components to construct a new computer, so getting that all set up will take some time. But the key thing here, I think, is that there will be NO WORK!
Staff Christmas party was pretty nice - food was good and there was an open bar that I took major advantage of (4 apple martinis plus about a glass of red wine - I was dumb and drank half of it, then gave the rest to Andy, then kept taking it back to drink more). Lots of compliments on my dress - Don (this old grandfatherly guy who has been with the company FOREVER) wins for best delivery. There were a few amusing happenings involving coworkers, and my boss TOTALLY owes me a nickel on the bet I made with him (China does to have more people than India). My only complaint is that we didn't get to sit with some of the Issues team - I wanted to talk to Lauren and Holly more and Holly's husband seemed really nice. But I guess it was just like work - I stayed with the people I interact with most there (plus some of the tech people). Hung out with Andy for a bit afterward and got him to borrow The God of Small THings (second best book EVER).
And now I sleep, because my buzz has turned to sleepiness and because I actually have a ton of things I want to try to get done tomorrow.
