In preparation of disaster...

What would you do to prepare disaster?

I came across some links at Yahoo!:

Yahoo! Answers on the street

Basic Disaster Preps:
  • Water and food for 5 days minimum
... that's 1 gallon of water per person per day
... that's food that you like.
  • Flashlights and batteries
... that's a flashlight in each room. You never know where you are when disaster strikes.
  • A first aid kit
... check your local Red Cross/Red Crescent/Red Crystal ( American Red Cross ) ( Dansk Røde Kors )
... you can search on it by
    1. adding your/your locations nationality to the name in your language;
    - American Red Cross
    - Dansk Røde Kors
    - Svenska Röda Korset
    - Deutsches Rotes Kreuz
    - etc.
    2. Putting your/your locations national ending on the website:
    - etc.
  • Essential medicals
... don't expect to be able to shop at the local pharmacy/drugstore!
  • Have copies of your documents elsewhere than your home.
Other good points from the video:
  • Fill up your car's gas tank
... even if your local gas station has gas, they might not be able to sell it due to lack of electricity.
  • Boardgames
... a good way to keep yourselves entertained by lack of electricity.

Here is a more detailed list to support the video:

Article from Yahoo! Health: First Aid & Safety, provided by MayoClinic.com

And a list of how to take care of the food during lack of electricity (this is why I prefer a stove with gas!):

From the expert blog "Eat Right, Stay Fit" at Yahoo! Health, written by Cheryl Koch.

Just thought I'd let you know.
